14/10/2011: [500ml bottle, gift from my wife - thanks!] Brown-black with a thick cream head and a slight prickly fizz that gets rather annoying and really doesn’t suit the beer. Tastes of chocolate with pleasant roasty hints. Maybe a little thin. Pleasant enough though would no doubt be much better in cask form. 6/4/7/2/13 26/11/2011 [500ml bottle that Dad shared with me - cheers!] Dark ruby-brown w/ mod cream head. Still as annoyingly thin and fizzy as the first time, but this time it seems to have lost the decent flavours too. There’s essentially some liquorice, a little roastiness and a little chocolate, then a sticky residue. Not great - have changed my rating to the average of my two samples. 6/3/5/2/10 for this one.

From the P7 Ross Bar at GBBF’11, cask, one-third pint. Plain golden body. Naked surface. Hoppy nose of hay and a lemony touch. Sweet tropical fruits in flavour. Sweet fruity end with little bitterness (London, 03.08.2011).

Bottled. Hazy deep amber, small head. Distinct spicy hop aroma. Dry and crisp with light body and well rounded mouthfeel. Slight caramel, plenty of spicy hops. Long bitter finish.

[Cask at Y Branwen, Harlech] Golden amber with a large white head. A vague fruitiness, and a smattering of flowers in the dry finish, but it’s rather thin and there’s not a lot to it. Their Snowdonia Ale was better.

[Cask at Y Branwen, Harlech] Golden amber with a large white head. Served rather cold, but as it warmed it revealed flavours of fruit, lemon and biscuit. A good mouthfeel, and decent flavour for a low ABV session ale, but felt it would have been improved if served without a sparkler.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Dark brown colour, bubbly off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, bit of coffee. Flavour is light roasted malts, sour fruity and a subtle coffee taste. Ok stuff.

Half pint, hand pulled cask ale at Stockbridge Tap in Edinburgh. Creamy, off-white head with some lacing. Amber-brownish shade to the dark coloured body. Chocolate malts to the nose. Flavoured with biscuits, caramel and bitter dark chocolate at the finish. Smooth and nice, 28.11.2010.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tins, Bristol 23/11/10. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, caramel and berry fruit aroma with a touch of roasted malt. Flavour was similarly sweet, with red fruits and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

Brassy colour. The aroma mixes toast and caramel. Mild, toasty character with slight juiciness in the finish but otherwise pretty boring.

Bottle, Spar, Bethesda, Snowdonia. Dark ruby tinged brown pour with a thin tan head. Sweet nose with notes of cola and redcurrant, quite unusual. Flavour had further fruitiness with some roasted malt present and notes of dark chocolate and nuts. Medium bitter finish. Pretty decent.
