Dark yellow color with a hoppy aroma. Flavor is moderate hop bitterness and good sweet malt backbone. Hop aftertaste.

Bottle from Vine & Grain. Appearance - jet black with an attractive tan to fawn head. Nose - deep, dark chocolate with an edge of dried fruit. Taste - luscious dark chocolate, cream, some raisin and caramel. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture. Just enough roast on the finish to give it balance. Overall - nice.

Bottle sample thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours hazy dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of toffee, molasses, roast chestnut. Taste is sweet, more toffee and molasses. Sweet finish.

Bottle from Vine and Grain. Appearance - opaque black with a thin tan head. Nose - molasses, savoury seaweed though unexpected on a Speyside. Dry salty liquorice, oak tannins. Taste - salty liquorice, leather and okay. Palate - medium to full bodied, dry savoury middle and finish. Overall - a bit challenging but really lovely.

Bottle at James's. Pours deep brown, nose is roasted, chocolate, meaty, coffee, taste is similar, bitter, dry.

Bottle at James's. Pours black, nose is burnt toffee, wood, oak, chocolate, liquorice, taste is chewy, oak, raisin, chocolate, sweet.

Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours oily black with a thin tan head. Aromas of tar, whisky, dark chocolate, liquorice. Taste is oak and vanilla, more dark chocolate and whisky. Nice.

Bottle from Vine and Grain. Appearance - lively on opening, opaque black, and a fawn head. Nose - creamy, dark chocolate and a little raisin. Taste - creamy chocolate and booze. Smoke and Pontefract liquorice. Palate - medium to full bodied, toasty and smoky. Overall - very nice.
