On cask at Coach and Horses - Nice looking black body with an off white head. Washed out nose, could pick out the chocolate well enough, bit nothing much else. Sweet watered down roasty taste, chocolate and a bit of sweetness.

Cask @ Bombay Brew, Rochdale. Near black and smoothish, although not too stated within its style, however it has a fine enough roasted malt character.

Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2015. Almost black with an easy-drinking texture for its strength. Very Christmas-like to begin with until I realised this tastes exactly the same as a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. There’s plenty of aroma to this effect too.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours pretty much black with a sizeable tan head and good lacing. There is a strong aroma of chocolate but with subtle hints of orange. In the mouth the texture is smooth and creamy – almost velvet. The flavour is predominantly milk chocolate, with traces of roasted malts, raisins and cola. Finish is dry with dried fruit. Very enjoyable – the only downside being there was not enough actual stout character.
