On keg at the Factory, Kendal. Appearance - golden amber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - caramel and light biscuit. No particular saison notes, though something lemony if you look for it. Taste - more of the same. Like an English Pale Ale. Palate - creamy and close to medium bodied. The finish could be fresher. Overall - so so.

Cask at Cask, Manchester. Hazy golden-amber. It's a dense tasting ale with a hoppy mild stewed fruitiness. Its strength is certainly a factor here.

Cask @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Copper-gold, but more of the former, also has a head. Fairly gritty hoppy-nutty ale leading to a good lingering fruity aftertaste in the same vein.

Cask at Tap and Bottle, Southport, 08/12/19. Clear golden with a decent off white head. Nose is airy malts, tangerine, grass, melon, faint weed. Taste comprises orange zest, citric tinged straw, melon, faint pine. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with light grassy hop bitterness. Ok cask pale.

Cask at Artichoke, Chester Pours almost completely black, with a tight cream head. The aroma has roasted malts, and not much else. Texutre in the mouth is creamy and the taste is a fruity mixture including plums and cherries. Finish is fruity as well, but also some smokiness. Quite nice really.

Pretty much a clear marmalade- amber colour beer, small pale tan head. Fairly light and smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft sweetish malts, a little fruity caramel both well integrated with a light vanilla. Soft creamy malts with a touch of brandy drizzled dried fruits. Cocoa? Maybe a trace of choc on the finish, along with a touch of marmalade. This reads and feels like a ‘cheat’ barleywine and yet it’s done so well that it’s hard to be offended. There is no maturity here but the deft use of the additions adds complexity. Feel like I should be downscoring this but that is beer snobbery, this is a tasty brew, end of.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Golden with a head. It’s very palatable texture-wise for its strength with the raspberry dominant in both aroma and taste, but by no means overly stated or overbearing within the brew. 837315
