Box Social Brewing was established in 2015 by father and son duo Steve and Ross Holland. The brewery's aim is to create new and exciting beers to get people talking to each other and question their perception of beer.
After a long time working out of Steve's garage, brewing beer really just for ourselves, we decided to take the plunge and set up shop in a small industrial estate in Newburn on a 6 Barrel kit. We built a small tasting room on site so people could come and taste the freshest beer possible and began working on our beer range. Four years later, we were selling out of beer faster than we could make it and decided we had to take the next step.
We moved into our new 15 Barrel brewery in February 2019. This has allowed us to create not only better beer, but more of it!
330ml can from the Station bargain bin. Pours a murky golden orange, some froth atop. Orange citrus nose, taste follows on nicely with some smooth orange citrus, orange juice. Good stuff.
Can from Eltham Wines, Eltham. Cloudy dark orange pour with a white head. Aromas of marmalade, mango, tangerine, apricot. Flavours of sweet citrus, tropical fruit, orange sherbet. Splash of bitter hop in the finish.
Keg at Craft Beer Co St Mary Axe. Certainly smells of peanuts with floral elements. Just noticed the bourbon element on adding the beer which explains the edge it has. Opaque amber brown. Thick creamy head. Sweet and sour with peanuts and fruit. Light-medium bodied. Slick verging on sticky. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Lovely jubbly.
On tap at Christian Firtal Pale Ale Festival. Cloudy orange with a lasting white head. Fruity aroma with peach and orange. Sweet fruity flavour with a touch of bubblegum.
4th May 2019 Can. Light haze on this gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light creamy malts, a little dry and mildly sweet. The Clmet hops bring a brief burst of bright citrus but then much more thin and pithy citric hops. Smooth pine. Whisper of something tropical. Okay. Not smashing it with its dry pithy citric core but there is enough other good stuff going on.
