Draft pour at the Redhook BrewLab, Seattle. Expected a hazy IPA here, being an on the rise, trend wise dessert inspired IPA, but a clean, golden pour it is. Sweet fruity nose for the most part. Flavor is a bitter grapefruit front, a little less juicy, a little more bold. Lingering grapefruit constant. Less of a creamy experience with this than I expected, but I think I like it better that way. A nice IPA for sure.

From old tasting notes. Translucent orange amber color with a big yellowish beige head. Sweet molasses, toasted malt aroma. Semisweet malt flavor sports good dry hop character in middle. Well rounded and full flavored. Nicely balanced.

Kroger bottle. I haven't had a Red Hook in ages, and if I remember correctly I hated their regular IPA (checking.... yep). Pours golden-amber with a an off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, mango, pineapple. So far this is much better than the old retired IPA. Flavor is mango juice, pineapple, light green hops, pine. This is good. Nice work stepping up the game, Red Hook.

Draft pour pint at the brand new Redhook BrewLab. First visit! Golden orange pour, bright and juicy. A ton of apricot flavor here. Juicy and refreshing flavor as a result. Tropical fruit nose. A bunch of pineapple comes in late. Low bitter. Very tasty IPA.

For rating number 4000, I wanted a local classic that I somehow hadn’t rated so far. A beer that everyone around had had since they have first heard of craft. A beer that calls itself the granddaddy of craft, and since I began drinking beer only 6 years ago, a time when this beer was probably old enough to drink a beer itself, I figured it would be a great milestone beer for a beer drinker who takes so much pride in drinking local. Stubby bottle with a story printed in it, poured at the brand spankin new Red Hook BrewLab, Capitol Hill. A clean copper pour. Plenty of foam head. Aroma is a sweet caramel malt, an Amber lager like nose. This beer was first introduced in 1987, which was before I was even an idea. History in a beer, making it an excellent milestone rate. A ton of caramel throughout. A bit of spice to the grain. Cool finish. This beer deserves the respect. It’s a solid fit for the style in a mass produced format. Can’t believe I never rated it before, and this certainly won’t be the last time I enjoy it.

8/VIII/17 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ Help-Me-Get-to-10K-In-Time-Tasting 1 - BB: 5/VIII/17 or V/8/17, not entirely sure (2017-1182) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the beer!
Clear orange beer, small creamy white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very soapy smell, floral, bit chemical, what is this? MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very soapy flavours, soft bitterness, floral, pretty chemical, fruity touch in the back. Aftertaste: unpleasant bitterness, very harsh, bit resinous, some overripe fruits. Not very nice, this one. On from the looks of the other ratings, it seems it's not just the age on the bottle...

Bottle from WinCo. Dark amber, clear, thin head fades to ring. Malty, fruity aroma, some tobacco. Taste gets kind of astringent, leathery. Bitter, metallic finish.
