Description
Hello and welcome to Brothers Cider, the home of the original festival cider. We are Francis, Jonathan, Matthew and Daniel and for 14 generations, since 1658, when uncle Gabriel first sold his barrels around Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury, our family has strived to make light, refreshing ciders using a variety of fruit. We are constantly exploring new recipes and love to get your feedback on our latest creations.

We first started selling our Pear Cider at the Glastonbury Festival in 1995 near what was then called the Jazz World Stage. These days it is called The West Holts Stage but our bar is still in the same place. Over the years, festival goers kept asking us if it was possible to get our drink when the festival was over and so we decided to market it to pubs and supermarkets. Now you can get it all over the country and at other festivals besides Glastonbury. See you at the bar!

Vintage c. 2010/2012 (best before 2012). Quite sweet, some raw sugar, a bit of baked pear, nips of toasted biscuit. Delicate carbonation. Frankly it’s not all that bad.

Bottle left at our house.
Appearance - bright neon red and clear. No head.
Nose - definitely cherry bakewell, marzipan and cherry stone.
Taste - mainly marzipan with an underlying hint of fresh apple.
Palate - medium bodied, tangy and sweet.
Overall - enjoyable if a bit sweet.

Bottle at homa. Aroma of toffee, caramel, sugar and sweet apples. Flavour is sickeningly sugary sweet, truly the stuff of nightmares. I’m not a fan of Cider, but I’ve had some that were halfway decent. This is not one of those.

Bottle from LCB. Pours a clear pinkish red colour with lots of carbonation. Aroma has a candied strawberry aroma with a light hint of bitter lime. Its sweet with a slightly syrupy strawberry flavour, lime doesn't cut through enough to balance, also hint of digestive biscuit. Watery to light bodied, slight stickiness and high carbonation. Artificial but drinkable.

Can from my local convenience store. Its rare I find a new rate there. Clear gold with very brief fizz. Sweet aroma of pear, apple pith. Taste does have a balance between pear and apple content with fleshy juice lacking in character although pleasant. Somewhat sugary although there is much worse out there. Semi-drying, medium bodied, lacking some smoothness for the strength, over carbonated. I half enjoyed it despite faults.

Can from local convenience store (One Stop). Pours a crystal clear light purple/dark pink with brief fizz. Aroma of fruity but sugary-syrup like blackberry and raspberry. Taste follows, apple flavour is overridden by the berries. There is a semi-drying pithy finish but has a thin body. Nothing particularly premium from this berry cider - just a lower ABV version of similar offerings although maybe slightly less added sugar. On the other hand its nice to see a flavoured cider not at 4% straight. Although ironically the extra ABV may have helped with this one as its so thin. Very drinkable though.

Can from Tesco. Pours a crystal clear light pink with some bubbles around the edge. Aroma of faint raspberry and lime and not much else; however it doesn't give off that overly syrupy sweet vibe of some flavoured ciders. Taste wise - very much raspberry and lime, hint of apple pith, sweet but and has a lightness to it, light dryness. Good tasty palate cleansing stuff after a strong beer, although not sure how much apple is in it.
