On tap at Principia CDMX. Pours clear ruddy brown with a beige head. Light resin and chewy toasted malts on the nose. Flavour has a dry piney hop character and a very tepid brown malt character. Fairly lacklustre black IPA, but I always appreciate the style.

On tap at Principia CDMX, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has some sugars, gentle coffee, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour has plenty of sugars, morning cup of coffee, and a touch of cocoa. Not much malt depth, which makes this land pretty haphazardly. It’s alright.

On tap at Principia CDMX, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has a nice mix of vanilla, cinnamon, and cocoa, with toasted malt in back. Flavour is dry, with lots of dusty cocoa powder, some cinnamon, a touch of earthy coffee, and light vanilla. Finishes dry and semi-bitter. Pleasant.

On tap at Principia CDMX, pours an amber-tinged dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma has some harsh spirit barrel character, along with toasted malt, and a touch of oats. Flavour reveals very low-quality blurbon, watery toasted malt, and oats. Thin and lacking depth—why put such a beer in barrels, let alone bad-quality ones? Lame.

On tap at Principia CDMX, pours a clear dark red with a small off-white head. Aroma is full of diacetyl, buttered caramel, toasted malt, and subdued earthy hops. Flavour has way too much diacetyl, with toasted malt and subdued earthy hops underneath. Deficient hops, deficient malt, and too much butter. I don’t like to shit on black IPAs, but this is a sad creation.

On tap at Principia CDMX, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma has gentle pine, some resinous oils, and sweet bready malt. Flavour has some resinous hops, gentle pine, and a thin, crystal malt base. Nice resinous and piney hop character. Not the most assertive but well-made.
