Description

0.5 l bottle from local ’Trink & Spare’, best before June 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, dense, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, a bit grassy aroma of straw and a touch of citrus. Sweetish, slightly grassy-spicy taste of straw, some grains, yeast and slight hints of citrus, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately grassy-spicy and a little yeasty finish. Almost medium-bodied, quite smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Refreshing, quaffable, not too deep Lager.

0.5 l bottle from local ’Trink & Spare’, best before March 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty aroma of honey and butter. Sweetish-malty, slightly grainy taste of honey, butter, sweet popcorn, some straw and hints of cardboard, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little grassy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Maybe the bottle is not freshest anymore, but this tastes more like a Festbier than their actual Festbier, whereas their Festbier resembles a real Pils. Strange. The beer is not bad by the way, just not what I was expecting.

Sampled from 0.5 l bottle from local ’Trink & Spare’ as ’Franken Bräu Natur Radler’, best before May 2017. Hazy, straw yellow with a thin, soapy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, artificially fruity aroma of lemonade. Rather sweet, slightly sourish, artificially fruity taste of lemonade, sorbet powder and slightest hints of pale malts, followed by a short, minimally bitter, slightly sourish finish. Thin to medium body, a bit astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Drinkable, not a bad Radler, but still not a pleasure.

(swing top bottle) Clear, copper to dark amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Biscuity and mildly toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, a whif of black tea, backed by herbal and delicately citric hops. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Hearty malty base with notes of biscuits, bread, caramel, traces of honey, as well as a herbal hoppy counterpart; sweet malty and caramelly finish with lighter but nevertheless present herbal hops. Clean and balanced, not bad. 25.VIII.16
