Description

Bottle 30 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Clear deep golden with some floaties and a small, rough of-white head. Strange perfumy aroma. Light body, perfumy, ashy and dry - really strange. Some bitterness. 111009

Cloudy pale blond color. Strange aroma, spicy and nutty (peanuts). The flavor is lightly sour, possibly infected, sweetish, and nothing else worth mentioning. Poor.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 1 Aug 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, caramel and wild berries. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, wild berries, toasty grain and a slightly bittersweet finish. Full bodied, rather sweet and with a quite warming touch of alcohol. Well balanced and very nice beer.

Slightly gushing to medium, amber-tinted, slighlty irregular hed over hazy pale orange-amber beer. Honey, spices and stale water; Again loads of liquorice in the mouth, malts; heated honey, diluted; roasted toffee, again heavily diluted. Certain astringency and very burning, fizzy MF. Nonetheless, bit empty. Again not very enjoyable; no real disasters, but several loose ends, poor overall.

Very pale golden beer; medium to good white head, bit fluffy. End of bottle fully cloudy. Bit astringent nose, spicy, some citrus. Cannot place the spices; malty finish. Sweet-spicy taste, somehow at odds with the smell. I would hazard coriander, seen the vague citrussy flavour. Like a spicy, sweet tripel. Retronasal something like aniseed. Pretty spritzy MF, medium bodied. Unconvincing.

1 sec. of off-white foam; then uniformly hazy orange beer. Perfumed-sweet, as blueberries, and faint sourish note - gooseberry? Faint sourish taste, leafy too, and indeed again perfumed, as pralinéfilling on soda. Despite being flat as a pancake, if feels spritzy. Palate is certainly not its strongest point. Don’t see the interest in this one.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts and some spice. Flavour is sweet, malty, ginger and lavender, very odd and a bit out of place. Light fruitiness. Light to medium bodied. Not a winner.

Bottle, 6%. Citric aroma, mildly lemony. Almost clear grey amber colour, small bits floating around it. Very small white head. Quite oxidized flavour, lots of cardboard. Sweet and slightly spicy. Too cardboardy.
