Bottle from Fenaknoken in Oslo. (batch 21, bought in July 2010) Dark brown with a small head. Aroma of malt and caramel, on the sour side. The taste was also a little bit sour. Drinkable, but I wonder if it should taste like this? (best before was 13.12.10)

Bottle at Cardinal. It’s an unclear, golden-orange beer with a small, dense, off-white head leaving lacings. Judging from the aroma, there’s certainly some Brett here. I am sure it is not intended, but it suits the beer. Fruity, citrusy and spiced. Some pale malts. The flavor is orangey sour and slightly orangey sweet, with a touch of pale malts and spices. Medium to thin body. Sourish, fruity finish with a pleasant bitterness, although I would like more of it. Well, I can’t imagine the Brett is intended, but it sure works out well. Probably nice when not off as well. 101113

Bottle, at Cardinal. It pours a hazy, dark brown body and a small, off-white to beige head. Slightly sourish on the nose, as in infected, with berries, dried fruits and a roasted caramel touch. The flavor has berries, some prunes, a hint of chocolate and coffee, and a touch of something I can’t identify. The flavor is pretty much the same, sourness and roasted malts, with berries and prunes. Full body, a bit papery, and maybe a bit low on carbonation. Well, not bad, but not really good either. A bit off and quite dull. 101113

Bottle at Cardinal. A more or less clear one, dark amber in color and with a small, beige head. The aroma wasn’t impressive, yeast, green apples, caramel and coffee hints. Something reminiscent of higher alcohol too. Smooth in the mouth, medium body. The flavor has mostly caramel and some fruits. Both dried fruits and fresh apples. Short finish with fruityness and caramel. Not bad, better than most Norwegian store strength Christmas beer, but too dull. 101113

Medium beige head. Deep amber body with light carbonation. Roasty papery wild berry aroma with earthy oily notes. Dry-sweet oily earthy peas taste with fruity dusty maly wild berry notes. Mild, dusty mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry roasty toffeeish wild berry aftertaste with earthy waxy minty and faintly perfumy notes. Really nice. Full of flavour and character. (0.5l bottle, Meny Grønlands Torg, Oslo.)
