Bottle shared at J Wakefield OG party. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong booze, caramel, figs, wood. Medium body, caramel, wood, strong booze finish, lots of burn, very good.

Keg at the brewery. Dark gold and clear. A fair bit of quickly dissipating head. Light malt aroma, a bit of stone fruit, a bit of soap. Sweet with some underlying bitterness which increases to the finish. Golden syrup in the aftertaste. Bittering rather than aromatic hop. Very ’White Shield-y’ in its approach.

Keg at the brewery. Apparently this is with the Oktoberfest malt bill but aged for a much shorter time. Orange/sienna and clear. Gentle malt with a bit of ripe citrus and allspice. Tastes sweet with a sharp bitter kick, just the right side of too astringent before fading. A bit too malt-driven for me but hey that’s the style.

Keg at the brewery. Light yellow, cloudy. Gentle smoked malt in the aroma with lemon and oak chips. Sour/sweet bitterness with a salty/savoury note: a little bit of everything. More smoke, like Spanish bean soup, in the aftertaste. A hard one to pin down but enjoyable.

Keg at the brewery. Light amber, clear and thin looking. Quite a bit of head initially. Malty, citrus and floral - almost perfumed - odour. Sweet taste with bitter astringency leading up to the long finish. Notes of vanilla and tangerine in the aftertaste. Pretty good although balance doesn’t quite work for me.

Keg at the brewery. Iced tea brown and clear. Little bit of white head. Little bit of malt, clove and orange peel. Tiny bit of cocoa. Taste is sweet and malty with a slight spicy twinge. Short to medium finish with more light malt. Inoffensive and easy but still has character and is better than the sum of its parts.

Keg at the brewery at 6.5%. Mahogany brown, clear. A bit of visible carbonation. Prune, oak chips, molasses in the aroma. Sweet and syrupy with strong fruit notes. A bit of bitterness but it stays sweet in the long finish. Sarsaparilla in the aftertaste. Not always my favourite style but this is sexy.
