Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark golden color with a huge fluffy yellow-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was tart, bitter and very perfumey. The flavor was dry, tart and perfumey. Long dry and perfumey finish. Light to medium body. Disappointing.

I have to admit to being fairly leery of this one but it proved to be more enjoyable than I expected. +++ Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark black color with a medium sized foamy very dark brown head that faded fairly quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was hickory, licorice, semi sweet malt and was a touch meaty. The flavor was strong licorice with a bit of root beer following and a sweetish undertone of hickory, coffee and cocoa. The finish was long and malty with lingering licorice and hickory. Moderately full bodied, smooth but almost greasy. Interesting.

Sampled on draft at the Pints for Pets brewfest this beer poured a very pale yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was hot peppers and not much else. The flavor was heat, hot pepper and a faint basic lager undertone. The finish was long with lingering hot peppers. Light body but burns the tongue a bit. Interesting.

I tend to like the fruit beers more than your typical Ratebeerian but this one did not work well for me. Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a very hazy yellow color with a large foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sour and tangy with an artificial berry note. The flavor was dryish and nutty with a light tangy artificial berry element and an undertone that tasted like artificial sweetener. The finish was long, tangy and had a vague berry undertone. Medium body. Disappointing.

From a hand bottled 12 oz bottle that was capped back in January. Sweet aroma. Taste is strong, sweet and over the top. Like most other barley wines but has a unique presence all its own. Hazy yellow and a tad on the viscous side. No carbonation. What else can be said but on style. Lots of alky on the finish. Difficult for a lager lover. A little warm going down. Hand bottling did not seem to affect this brew at all.

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a vibrant amber color with a small white head that faded quickly. The aroma was tangy and sweet with touches of floral and grapefruity hops and light musty dry spice undertone. Very complex on the nose. The flavor was dryish, sharp and bitter with strong floral and lightly fruity hops dominating and a touch of a musty undertone. The finish was long, dry and bitter. Decent.
