12 oz bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Eugene mentioned this was brewed at the Brewery’s a 1 barrel system on Coney Island, which is cool. The pour is a darker brown, golden, with a smallish off white head. The aroma is roasted malt, smoke, and a soft char. The smoke is full, though well integrated so not overpowering. The taste is the char smoke, melded with the roasted malt, and then towards the back of the beer, there is a metallic character that detracts. The palate is medium bodied (though thins out a touch as it warms), lowish carbonation level, and the aforementioned metallic char taste lingering in the finish. Thanks for sharing Eugene, fun one to try.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, raisin, prune, molasses, toast, nuttiness, biscuit, toffee, earth, herbal, and slight esters. Nice aromas with good strength, balance, and complexity. Taste of caramel, molasses, raisin, prune, toast, nuttiness, biscuit, earth, herbal spiciness, and some yeast esters. Lingering notes of caramel, molasses, raisin, toast, nuttiness, bread, toffee, herbal, and light esters on the finish for a good bit of time. Good balance and robustness of flavors; a bit too estery at times; some mild cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is decently well hidden with only a moderate warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid imperial doppelbock. Some nice flavor robustness and balance; and fairly smooth to sip on. A bit estery at times, but still quite enjoyable; though definitely a slow sipper. This improved a lot as it warmed up to room temperature.

12 oz. bottle@ Table and Vine. Lager glass shows an interesting red ruby color with a full pink head. It kind of looks like Mountain Dew Code Red. Low carbonation. Nose has some grain and substantial hop notes. The flavor starts with light caramel and light fruit notes. The finish has lots of hop bite. Lingering hop bitterness. The funny thing is, it kind of works as an IPA... the only problem is I was wanting a Marzen; Which this CLEARLY isn’t. Don’t expect an Octoberfest.

Lingering notes of caramel, pear, raisin, toast, molasses, biscuit, earth, and light herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of flavors; almost zero cloying sweetness present on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice Oktoberfest style. Nice balance and robustness of flavors; very smooth to drink. This is fairly on par with the style as well. Definitely an enjoyable offering.

Bottle. What the hell? Red with a small pink head! Doesn’t look like any marzen I’ve ever had. I highly suspect red #40, something I tend to avoid. I’m not impressed. Light sweet aroma, but that’s reaching. I really wasn’t able to smell much. I had to close my eyes, because the color made it easy to imagine things that weren’t really there. Thank heavens the flavor offered up something a little more traditional.. Light vegetal malt and herbal hops flavor. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Maybe a novelty to serve at a Halloween party, but otherwise not so great.

Aroma: The nose has hops, malts, a good amount of spice, and some citrus
Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a lasting, thick, creamy white head
Flavor: Taste is malty, medium sweet, with some spice and citrus hops to it
Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it has a soft carbonation, and a smooth, creamy feel
Overall Impression: This one was a pretty solid, quite quaffable, and better then I expected. This was a very solid beer from Coney Island, and one it was about time I tried.
