Bottled. Amber coloured with creamy head. Roasty and malty with clean mouthfeel and grassy bitter finish. Good to see a Swedish word on an American label...

Cloudy and orange. Small white head. banana aroma in this beer. Taste of lemon is also noticeable. New Glarus does a better wheat, but this is good too.

A little toasty taste after an initial sugary hit. Mild hop flavor. Actually a good American example of this style

I am just now noticing the description: "without a doubt the finest dark beer brewed in the United States." LOL. I certainly hope not, although Munich Dark is respectable in most regards. Pours amber, with a weak aroma and a nice, malty taste which quickly dissipates. The body is a bit too thin for this beer to be considered "the finest in the United States," and the flavor lacks the degree of complexity and persistence that the unfortunate description implies. Still, a respectable beverage, but I'll stick to my European counterparts for this style.

The aroma is sour and "macro"-like, but the beer is dominated by smooth, subtle malts. Sweet and crisp. Little to mention on the hops front. A pleasant beer; I guess this is my "Marchfest" tonight!

Popping the bottle, I got a nice "beery" whiff, like when you walk into an old bar. Low lying head yielded to a nice toasty malt base. Hop didn’t come through until the end. "Well, I like it," although anything that doesn’t just offend will get a pretty good grade from me.

As pale American lagers go, this is better than most. No off-tastes, a fine yellow color with just a slight haze. Noticeable malt presence is balanced by a just-detectable fruity hop presence.

Yet another re-rate! This time, rather than from a sixer of unknown age I had this delivered to me directly from the brewery! Hey, its pretty nice. Cloudy darkish yellow. Head a little smaller than you’d like. Aroma: mint, lemon, clove, pepper. Aroma similar, light sweet and banana. Its main flaw is that the finish is thin and watery, leaving a very light, empty aftertaste. A hefe shouldn’t have "heft" but increasing the palate a little here wouldn’t put this beer in danger of being too heavy.

This beer is now called Munich Dark on the label, and it does show the characteristics of a Dunkel. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Dark brown color with a medium foamy head. Rich and malty with slight bitterness on the back end. Not too shabby.

Now we're getting somewhere. Part of the Capital Summer Sampler, this is a really good seasonal. Dark amber with decent lace. Nice honey and nutty aroma. Tastes kind of like a Marzen with a malt flavor and light caramel finish. I will look for this one next summer.
