Originally rated September 2005. Bought in the cheapy single section of the LCBO. Pours a golden colour with hardly any carbonation. The white head dissipates quickly and leaves a bit of lace. The nose seems like alcohol, metallic water and grains. The taste is slightly bitter and bites a bit with the alcohol, then goes into this clean dry aftertaste with hints of corn. Pretty refreshing and easy drinkability, but hits the spot... and you feel it without seeing it come.

listed as brick waterloo dark and waterloo dark. smells fresh, metallic. dark, looks nice. mild tart on a dark american lager. sizzlingy good; just the right amount of bitterness. I like most mild schwartzbeers and dark lagers.

Single 473ml can at the LCBO from Brick’s "Seasonal Collection". Pours a clear golden-amber colour with a decent big tanned cap that has good retention and offers foamy lacing. Grainy aromas of mild roasted and caramel hops, alcohol with very light fruits and hops. Very smooth silky mouthfeel, but not much stick in the end. Soft sweet malt start with the hop kicking a bit after the middle and notes of rusty water appears in the finish. Gets better as you drink more. Interesting coming from Brick’s under their Waterloo name, but still not a top Oktoberfest.

Originally rated February 2006. This new one pours a golden-amber colour with a white head that does not stay long. The lacing left is small, but a coating tops the brew. Good, over-average carbonation. The nose is sweet with honey and corn. Sticky and lingering mouthfeel. The taste of apples is there, with some slight bitterness and a smooth finish. Not much honey, nor sweetness in the flavours. Corn is not really there either. Not a horrible brew, but the lingering aftertaste is not really an incentive to have this one again.

Originally rated February 2006. Brewed with spring water, malted barley, corn and hops. Well, at least they don’t try and hide the corn. Pours a nice clean amber colour with a big head that dissipates fast. The carbonation is lively with bigger bubbles and a ring stays around for the tasting. The nose is a mix between the corn and the honey. Watery mouthfeel that is smooth. Starts off slightly bitter and stays into the finish. The corn appears in the aftertaste, but not disturbingly. Notes of honey and apples are felt along the way. Not really a sweet beer, but has some decent bitterness. Well-brewed swill.

A golden lager with a thin white head. In aroma, light lemonade. In mouth, a malty lemonade, with fake citrus juice, malt, very bad. Blahhhh!

Originally rated March 2006. Comes in a clear bottle. Pours a yellow colour with very high carbonation. The head is white, creamy-fizz, has medium retention and leaves a bit of lace. Aromas of alcohol and bad grass. Smooth mouthfeel. The taste is kind of weird with some corn in the finish. Some kind of cheap malt or hop, tasting like cabbage. Tastes much better dranked from the bottle.

Originally rated May 2006. After reviewing the Lakeport Light, I decided to review this one... Lakeport’s competition. This one is slightly more expensive. Pours the same golden colour, has the same foamy white head, dissipates as fast and has hardly any visible carbonation, just like the Lakeport. Grainy malt nose that is quite present for a light beer. Grainy watery mouthfeel. The taste is slightly better than the Lakeport, with a bit more all-over flavours. Grain malt, mild fruitness like apples, honey and just a tad of corn in the aftertaste. Just a notch up from Lakeport Light, but both are unoffensive light brews.
