Today David Sheppy the incumbent Master of Cider, applies his unrivalled knowledge and expertise from a lifetime of cider making to turn our home-grown apples into some of the finest and award winning ciders.
Fifteen of our 90 acres of orchards we planted with tradition standard apple trees. Eight acres of these are certified organic. The remaining 75 acres contain bush trees planted at between 200 and 300 trees per acre, so about 19,000 trees in total at Sheppy's.

500ml bottle from Fenwicks, Newcastle. Clear golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, fruits, caramel hint. Taste is sweet, apple, fruity, tangy, caramel note, with bittersweet tannins. Medium bodied, light carbonation, drying tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle from the Low Cost Beer online shop. At 6.5%. Pours clear yellow gold with a thin white head. Aromas of dry spicy apple. Taste is dry apples, skin. Dry finish.

750ml bottle from Sheppy's. Clear golden colour, afew short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of apple, spice, leather. Taste is sweet, apple, strudel, spices, cinnamon, cloves, with some leathery funk and citric notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, drying lingering sweet spiced finish. Quite drinkable.

500ml bottle. Clear gold, nice effervesence. Fleshy sweet medium blend aroma, continuing to taste with a fairly rich warmth and a bit more of a rosey woody shine than I recall from Sheppy's. Decent.

At Drink Baar. Thin, low carbonation. Pretty sweet, I would say more than medium. Light tartness. Nice real apple character, but a bit too simple to balance the sweetness. Average.
