Sigmund's description is pretty much right on- light, moderately hopped continental (for those of you familiar with this term) pilsner.

This was my favourite Oslo pilsener many years ago when Frydenlund Bryggeri existed in its own right, but Ringnes' revival of the brew is not bad - it just isn't quite as fresh and spritzy as i remember it. (But then my memory isn't what it used to be, either...) Well, this is a light golden, medium hopped pils, perhaps more rounded than a pils ought to be, well worth sampling but nothing that will linger in your dreams.

Rerate: Apparently they have changed the recipe now. Colour is much paler, flavour more like a standard Ringnes pils. Average at the best. Original rating: Malty and fruity flavour with some bitterness, hints of spices. Lots of taste for a lager, not among the most 'easily drinkable'. You'd think the alcohol content was higher than it actually is.

Darkish brown. Cloyingly sweet, medium bodied - but the alcohol shines through, unclean malt profile. It bears all the signs of industrial thinking and cost cutting.

Rerate, on tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar,Stavanger. Ruby colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of caramel, a hint of Christmas spices. Tthe flavour is malty with caramel, but not too sweet. Some fruity and spicy hints too, very drinkable. Very moderate but noticeable hops, some light roasty notes in the aftertaste. Original rating: 330 ml bottle. Dark amber colour, pleasant aroma, hints of liquorice and spices. Excellent with traditional Scandinavian Christmas fare.

Golden coloured. Very sweet and syrupy. Alcohol aroma and some citrus character. Typical get-drunk-fast superstrong lager

Very light bodied and pale. Crisp and balanced. Better than you would think, considering the name.
