Description
It was in 1943 that the history of the Fournier family and of cider began. On the southern borders of Normandy, in the land of the Dukes of Alençon, the reliefs offer landscapes of solid hills interspersed with green valleys. Apple and pear trees bloom on the hillsides stretched out in the sun.

It is in this environment that Cidres Fournier cultivates their orchards of tall apple trees. The selected fruit varieties favor quality over yield. This is the spirit that drives Fournier Ciders in its development and the qualitative control of its growth: love of the land, orchards, fruit and a well-made product.

In 1996 company registration. Rocation of the premises of the distillery activity of M.Fernand in Saint Pierre des Nids for reasons of exploitation rights by the SARL Fournier Frères. chaired by Messrs Jean-Pierre and Fernand Fournier. The successful association of two brothers with complementary skills, especially after several years of training in the cider industry, creation and development of the range of cider products in bottles

In 2013 extension of orchards, +10 hectares planted. Creation of the Fournier brand.

Bottle from Selfridges. It pours clear golden - amber with a fluffy white head. The aroma is bright, bitter - sweet apple, dried apple, crunchy fruits, candied white grape, gooseberry, lime sherbet, vinous, hay abs a touch of cereal. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, some tannin, dry oak, hay, straw, green apple, candied white grape, gooseberry crumble, dull acidity, limeade, white wine, fruit pastilles and a splash of American cream soda with a dry finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Quite a classy number. Still quite sweet even through it is a brut. Decent.

75cl bottle from Plaisir Fraicheur, Hazebrouck. Pours a clear deep pink, bright effervescence. Big fruity nose, bringing to mind assorted red berries. Pleasant rosé, balanced syrupy action, rich tart sugary character, a bit too rich for me, but nice enough.

Bottle from HOTM, online purchase. First from this cidery. Clear gold, some spritzy white foam. Aroma has a fruity part caramelised pear with core and skin notes, some midget gem sweets. Taste is sharp sour fruity pear, somewhat syrupy, hint of bitter skins but quite sweet and sugary in finish. Lovely genuine pear fruitiness but with it being so sour and sweet just lacks some lightness of touch to balance it.

750ml wired cork bottle from Vinatis, for #rgpm. 2%. Opened with a pop. Sparkling, yellow golden colour, short-lived fizzy white foam head and aroma of ripe pear, fruit, fleshy, caramel hint. Taste is sweet, juicy pear, fleshy, sugary, alittle caramel note, and with some tart acidity. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, sweet & drying tart peary finish. Quite drinkable, abit sweet.

75cl bottle (2% ABV), shared with Soph watching the opening ceremony of Notre Dame on TV. Pours gold with a fine mist. Soft carbonation. Sweet pear puree aroma. Syrupy sweet poiré profile to taste, some caramel, stewed pear.. curious flavour profile for sure. Not bad.

75cl bottle. Pours a relatively clear gold. Aroma of fresh-pressed fruit, gently stewed fruit. Nicely sharp brut with distant caramelised brown sugar and a gently woody side, soft tannic undertone. Nice.

Bottle as Cidre Doux. Clear golden with a quite large and lasting head. Sweet and sour apple, light leather, farmyard, plums, caramel, peach. Solid medium sweet but also some sourness. Full bodied, medium dry. I didn't really like their brut, but this works well with the more sour apples they use. Not bad.

Bottle. Clear golden. Crisp green apple, pear, unripe mango, mossy, hay, light dry cellar, mineral. Light sweet and sour, lighter bitter. Crisp medium bodied. Not a very typical Normand cider but also not bad.
