Aroma of smoked cheese. Coppery color with a frothy white head. It’s so firm it has neither disappeared or laced. Probably won’t lace much. Starts with smoke, medium body, develops malt sweetness with swishing. The smoke is at every stage. Towards the end there seems to be a bit of sour. Not finding any bitter sensations. The smoke is strong enough to cover hop notes, if any. Reminds me of landjager sausage. Not an everyday drink (for me), but I’d have it again. It goes very well with pepper turkey on ciabatta.

Wow. Banana aroma. Maybe sweet, brown banana. Hazy dark amber color with a beige head that hung around. Medium bodied. Starts with dark sweet malt. Suggestions of wheat. Banana, clove and chocolate are definitely present. Seems to be a little bitter in the finish, but the finish is mostly malt and a bit of banana. Quite an impressive combination.

Aroma of medium, caramel malt, with just a hint of something darker, like chocolate. About as dark as a porter, approaching a stout opacity. The (I think) white head almost completely dissapeared while getting this far typing. A true roasted aroma as the glass approaches the lips. Almost like roast coffee of a sort. Medium bodied. Moderate to low carbonation. It starts with a roasted grain/coffee taste. It is not all that sweet. Not getting chocolate. The finish is not really dry, but the residual dark malt roast performs the function of hop bitterness. I can almost image the bitterness remaining after a cup of coffee, except there must have been a bit of sweetener in the cup. A really good variation on the typical German style. Much lighter, arguably much tastier. Rich, could be. Complex, oh yes!

Slightly floral aroma which left some spice in the nose. Seemed to be malt behind it. Copper tinged gold color with a white head that ran away. Medium bodied. Quite a bit of carbonation. Some sort of earthiness, along with a spice bite. The finish was bitter enough, and there was some sort of floral/herby aspect. It is really quite good. It feels well and tastes well. It reminds a bit of Mateveza from Butte Creek.

Twist the lid off of this 12 oz brew and get a whiff of manly beer, sweet, chocolaty, wheaty and strong-ale-ish at the same time, also has a sort of vanilla in there too. This stuff pours like a dunkleweizen in appearance, you know, darker brown and cloudy, but not black. Nice coating of gunk on the bottom of the bottle. You get that hypnotizing swirling particle thing going on when you pour unfiltered wheat properly, love it. The taste is a wallop, sweet syrup alky impact, wew, quite an impression. You want to get buzzed fast? This cannot stand up to Victory Moonglow Weizenbock as far as enjoyability goes. This is more on the level of Samuel Adams Winter Lager, with it’s oppressive servitude. Very coarse and hard to take. Never a session beer, two of these on an empty stomach and you’ll get stopped for a DUI! Each taste has a grainy alcohol tinge. Schneider Aventis is a little better than this also. I noticed that there are many other weizenbocks that do not have such a high alky %. If Vigarosa means invigorating, I’ll agree with that! Wow, each sip is something that cannot be explained. Man, the finish on this is notbitter hoppy nor bitter malty, more like some crazy industrial alky back of throat bitter experience that is medium in length and fretting. Will not purchase again, probably the least tasty weizenbocks I’ve encountered. There is carbonation but you would never notice it with all the other flavor overwhelming going on. Simply mows over my girlie taste buds. However, I am very glad to have had the opportunity to taste this. If you like high alky beers such as Belgian strong of barleywines, give this a try, you may really like it.

A manageable amount of sediment is left behind in the pour, while the body is a dark, luxurious garnet-tinted mahogany. Beige head sits atop, medium in size and showing very strong retention, light to medium lacing. Medium-high clarity.
Beautiful mix of coffee and vanilla, with dry chocolate liqueur-like notes coating the strong banana esters. A deep, creamy wheat note is mushy and slightly blanding, but is cut by an oily prune dryness and some husky chocolate malts. Sweet pale malts congregate on the finish, further emphasizing the depth of the malts here. Medium-high strength of aroma, with no flaws or alcohol noted.
At first sip, it dosent seem quite as complex as the nose suggests, the pale malts quickly surging to provide a soft, supple sweetness that carries through to the finish. Light clove and vinous dryness only knicks the surface of the maltiness, but some coffee and dry chocolate slowly emerge with warming. Definitely a light wheat-like chewiness to the palate, with graceful carbonation (though not tons of it). For as well-malted as it is, it never comes off heavy or cloying and maintains a wonderful level of drinkability. Phenols are kept to a minimum here, which is nice, IMO. No alcohol or flaws, medium-full bodied.

12oz bottle with twist off cap poured into Southampton Weizen glass. Pours with a large head that turns into a thick sticky lacing. Color is dark amber, with strong visible carbonation. A lightly cloudy beer with medium clarity. Aroma is very nice with a strong Belgian-esque aspect. A sweet estery (not strong on banana) aroma with a strong belgian yeastiness (or am I just mixing up Belgian yeastiness with a type of ester?). A good wheat aspect -fruitiness with light sour. Taste is a lighter sweetness (again it seems like a Belgian yeastiness) and strong on the fruity/sour wheat. Sweet wheat aftertaste with a light toastiness/earthiness. Medium body with a light feeling because of the wheat. Low bitterness.

Bottle. Dark ruby black beer with a tan head. Caramel, malt, and slight hay aroma. Caramel malt with a bit of roastiness and chocolate and backing smokiness. Medium body. Lingering caramel and earth with malt.
