Description
Western Cider is located on the banks of the Clark Fork River in Missoula, Montana. Western Cider's dream was seeded in 2012 when co-founder Michael Billingsley planted 2,500 cider apple trees in Montana's Bitterroot Valley. Now, we have nearly 5,000 rare apple trees of mixed variety. We use those apples, as well as apples from the Northwest, to produce easy going and traditional ciders.

On tap at Western Cider, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out champagne must and gentle apple acidity. Flavour is very champagne-like, with a highly carbonated mustiness, medium apple acidity and light sweetness. Dry, funky and musty. Very pleasant.

On tap at Western Cider, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals subtle whiskey notes, with a touch of peachy, and gentle apple acidity. Flavour follows through, with the whiskey more pronounced, followed by tart peaches, and a touch of apple acidity. Nice use of the barrels, but I could do with a more intense whiskey character. Fun cider.

On tap at Western Cider, pours a clear pale blonde. Aroma is dominated by the hops, smelling very cosmetic - with lots of wood varnish and perfume. Flavour is better than the nose, with perfumey, floral hops, and medium sweet apples. Finishes gently acidic and floral. Not bad.

500 ml bottle bought in St. Regis, MT. Aroma is whiskey, vanilla, apple, wood; peach comes through more after it warms up. Pours clear pale golden with a thin white head that doesn’t last. Taste is sweet and tart, as expected; flavors like the aroma descriptors, along with a really strong banana note; peach isn’t noticeable until it warms up quite a bit. The whiskey and barrel come through pretty strongly. Really interesting.
