Slight haze, light brett but this is a bit sticky and doesn't quite come together. Inchoate.

Pale and bright, gooseberry, good pale malt, sweet malt, and the hop is really fruity.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a mostly clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out sweet saison yeast, some esters, and biscuity malt. Flavour is moderately estery, with toasted grains and gentle floral notes. Too estery, not rustic enough. Not quite on style. Needs improvement.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is rather off, with some fermentation problem — herbal, oniony, garlicky — ugh. Flavour is quite terrible, with perfumey, vegetal hops, garlicky notes… ugh, this has all sorts of problems. Very bad.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out moderately dank hops, biscuity malt, and some straw. Flavour is not quite as good, with gently dank hops, biscuity malt, and straw. Fairly weak hops despite some dankness. Meh.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out spicy grassy hops, peppery notes, and biscuity malt. Flavour is pretty off-the-mark, with herbal hops, straw, and gritty biscuity malt. Bready, herbal, and grainy. Hops are off, malt base is weak. Very lame.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a clear vert pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is weakly malted, with bready malt, not much else. Flavour is under-malted, with straw and toasted bready malt. Very weak and under-mated. Lacking oomph.

On tap at Ladd & Lass, pours a clear pale golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bready malt and a touch of toasted nuts. Flavour is soft, with bready malt, some residual sweetness, and straw. Under-malted and lacking body. Meh.

16 oz can picket up at Hop and Hound. A pretty kick ass double IPA with tons of melon hop character, moderately aggressive bitterness, tropical notes om the aroma. Smooth and rounded finish. Melon palate. Late pineapple reminder. Easy drinking imperial. Very well done.

Can from The Republic Bottle Shop, Marysville, WA; canned 2 Jan 2023
Dark brown colour, no head. Mild malt and caramel aroma. More boozy than sweet, with nutty character (which in my book is not too desirable for the style), caramel, a bit of toffee, but just moderate malt depth; more booze in the end.
I can see why they called it 'English', but it doesn't hold a candle to the classics.
