Bottle from Beer advent calendar 11/24 - it's pay day! And my today's treat is... Booooring again. Or not even that. Dull aroma. Rather watery taste with tiny little bit of roasted malts. Why is this called porter?

Verkaufte die Raschhofer Brauerei früher ihre Spezialitäten unter dem Titel Bierreise in das Heimatland dieses und jenes Bierstils, gibt man den Bieren jetzt craftig-kreative Namen. Gekostet habe ich das Bier am Craftbier-Fest Wien 2017, wo es eigentlich gar nicht auf meiner Agenda stand. Gebraut wird es mit den Hopfensorten Cascade, Ahtanum und Mandarina Bavaria und ist spritzig erfrischend. Es könnte ruhig ein bisschen aggressiver sein, die Aromen sind gut komponiert, könnten aber stärker aus der Malzigkeit herausstechen.

Dieses Bier habe ich vor einigen Jahren unter dem Titel Bierreise Belgien -Witbier getrunken. 2017 kam es unter neuen Namen wieder. Da habe ich es auf dem Craftbierfest Wien erneut gefunden. Es ist ein gut komponiertes Witbier mit ordentlich Gewürzaroma. Dazu ist es fein harmonisch und verwöhnt den Gaumen mit einem Kitzeln im Abgang.

330ml bottle from trade. Pours a misty yellow, medium white head. Aroma's a bit wheaty, light citrus. Taste is light, cereal grain, subtle citrus, lemon, drying close. Not destined to be an all-time classic witbier.

0,5 L bottle, bought at Nah und Frisch in Obertraun. Pours a clear, straw color, with a big, fizzy, white head. The aroma is corn syrup, straw, cedar, flowers, and lemon zest. Sweet and lightly bitter. A bit acrid, but smooth, dusty, and clean. Nothing special, but simple, clean, and reasonably tasty.

Bottle from Beerlovers, Vienna. Pours hazy yellow gold with an initially huge frothy white head diminishing to almost nothing over a couple of minutes, leaving good lacing. Aroma of wheat, sweet orange, lemon, yeast and a touch of caramel. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness, hint of sour. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle:Golden, a bit unclear, small and slowly collapsing white head; mild honeyish-bisquity nose with delicate traces of alcohol; moderate sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied; pretty short malty-bisquity finish with a hardly detectable balancing bitterness. A quite an uniforme brew...

05-06-17 // 330ml bottle from a trade with werckmeister, thanks! Pours light hazy golden beer. White lacing. Mild nose of yeast and fruit. Bottle, 0.5l. Clear golden pour with small white head, quickly diminishing. Pleasantly fresh on the nose with the grainy and malty notes. Some grassy hops in the background. Medium body, softly carbonated. Texture is smooth, a bit thicker then expected. Moderately bitter taste with some malty sweetness to back it up. Aroma is grains, grass, hay. Malts. Herbal. Refreshing hops. Slight acidity in the aftertaste, lingering throughout the finish. Slightly dry. Overall, a good thirst quencher but it offers nothing really to stand out from the crowd. Ok.

druaght in some bar in Vienna. Clear golden with a tall white head. Malty base, slightly grainy, with shy but good hops in the finish.
