Pours a clear golden color, topped with nice ftothy white head. There’s a mild malty aroma and some grains present. A little biscuity aroma. There’s not much to the taste - sweet and malty, no real bitterness in teh finish. Nothing special, but not bad at all. Very decent.

341 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden colour with a small, short lived white head. Aroma of malt and grassy hops. Flavour is bland with notes of malt and a mildly dry, bitter finish. Light body with watery texture and soft carbonation. Nothing special.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy pale amber with a scummy looking cream head; yeasty aroma; soft grainy body with a sweet yeasty taste; lacking finish and rather clinging. An interesting idea, and it’s good that you can compare this with a free sample of the filtered version.

On tap at the Holiday Inn-Yorkdale, Toronto. A fairly basic lager, designed to be drunk cold and quickly; straw coloured; grainy aroma; sweet grainy taste with perhaps a touch of citrus; and the faintest of acquaintances with a hop of some sort.

From 500 ml can. Aroma: Very slight cereal with some ether notes and tiny meat accents. Not very impressive. Fading out rapidly. Appearance: Golden blond very clear. Very sparkling head, average thickness also fading out rapidly. No lacing. Taste: Malt accents are rapidly showing up but remain very discreet. also showing tiny notes of cereal and hay. At higher temperature sugars are revealing a little caramel. Finish is showing a lazy bitterness with no particular accent. Missing a bit of complexity. Mouth feel is thin with a lack of body. Balance is good though. Just drinkable. Not the best pilsner I’ve tasted.

Tap: Poured a cloudy amber color lager with a small foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of lightly sweet cereal notes with light floral notes. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet cereal notes with some floral hoppy, light grassy notes and a yeasty finish, Body was full with good carbonation. I would definitely make this a regular product if I was the brewer.

Enjoyed at the National Capital Craft Beer Week. Quite nice to sample an unfiltered version of the good Steam Whistle Pilsner brew. Poured a hazy golden colour with the rest being close to the original, with its spicy hops and nice grainy notes. Seem smoother than the original version.

Enjoyed on tap at the Steam Whistle Brewery near the Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON. Overall I can’t say this was a bad brew, not very impressive but decent. Appearance is a light cloudy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is light and dry, not too much to it. Taste is decent, like a nice typical pilsener. Overall, happy that I had this complimentary 6 oz sample, and also happy that I didn’t pay $6 for a 16 oz portion.
