On tap in a restaurant. Sickly pale. Lots of honey, straw, peach, little tart lemon. Quite crisp. Light body. Fine.

330ml bottle. Pours a weird dark brown but transparent colour. Aroma is far too sweet toffee apple, but the flavour is a bit more balanced. Ultimately this is a drinkable but extremely boring pale ale.

Very hazy deep amber beer, thin cream colour head. Filthy hop nose - garlic and old socks. Palate is light, mildly dry and fairly crisp. Very modest sweetness from the thin malts. Hops follow the nose! The filth dies away a little as the beer goes from very cold to cool. A slight earthyness emerges and a touch of spicy tropical fruits. Mild floralness. Light dry finish. Starts filthy and gets interesting. Yet to have a better Rakau single hop IPA than that of Kernel though.

Lovely coffee flavour, a bit lighter than I'd expect, but very nice

500ml bottle. Aroma is sweet and fruity, a little pear, a little white chocolate. Flavour is big bitter grapefruit up front leading into a strong bittersweet caramel finish. Gains a little black pepper character as it warms. Tasty.

Pint at brewer’s cooperative. Very dark with a good smell of malts. Tastes like a mouthful of biscuits.

Hazy deep amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is airy and mildly dry. Decent fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, trace of caramel. Loads of apples and pears - tangy. A little orange underneath. Mild orange peel. Light finish. Odd and not right.

Pint at Vultures’ Lane. Really quite refreshing, there’s hops but they aren’t taking centre stage.
