Description
In 2017 we opened doors to our brewery and proeflokaal located in Amsterdam Oost. Our dream was to bring back and celebrating historic Dutch craft beers and the people who brewed them. Since then we've seen this dream come to a reality with the launch of our historic Van Vollenhoven series, reviving recipes made in the Netherlands at the Brewery De Gekroonde Valk from 1733 to 1945 and with our modern brews that draw inspiration from the old brewery employee's

Clear pale golden colour, tall frothy white head, good retention, light lacing. Aroma pale malts, floral hops, lemon, light grapefruit, lichee, grass. Soft smooth taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, bit piney. Sweetbitter aftertaste, lemony notes, light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not your usual suspect IPA-wise, nice mild one, easy to drink.

Bottle @ home. Clear golden colour with a small to medium sized white head. Smells some hops, weird sweetness, some herbs and spices, somehow slightly cinnamon. Tastes hops, sweet, fruits, banana, wheat, spices. Banana doesn’t belong in an ipa imo. Medium body, soft carbo. I kinda like the beer if I ignore what I would expect from an ipa.

Draft @ the brewpub, presented as Van Vollenhoven's Stout Original, not sure if it deserves a separate entry. Black color. Firm beige/light brown head. Aroma's: roasted malt, drop/licorice, umami. Ratronasal it's droppig/licorice, sweetish, umami. Flavor is moderate sweet, droppig, light bitter. Medium bodied. Roasty moderate bitter finish. Good stuff.

Strong fruity nose. Opaque ruby brown colour, small but steady frothy beige head, good lacing. Rich aroma of roasted malts, a basket of dark and red fruits, candy, palm sugar, molasses, caramel. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, fruity, spicy notes, retronasal fruit. Sweetbitter aftertaste, dried fruit, light chocolate, cinnamon. Light to medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Not your typical bock, fruity, well-balanced but could use more depth and body.

Bottle (from het biermoment). Pours yellow with whiteish head. The head stays. Aroma is fruity, banana, wheat, some citrus, some spices. Flavor is sweet, fruity, banana, wheat, citrus, lemon. Finish is wheaty and fruity. Carbonation is on the higher side. Overall: decent wheat beer, it's kind of mix between weizen and witbier.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierhuys', 7.1% abv, bb date not readable anymore. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, hazelnut, licorice, vanilla and some coffee. Quite sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, some hazelnut, a touch of raisins and traces of vanilla, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite nice but not the best stout at that abv, almost like liquid licorice, too much yeast character as well.
