500ml bottle. Clear dark gold with small white top. Aroma is malty, resinous, hint of fruit. Taste has brown bread, pine, citrus peel, resin, somewhat sweet and earthy. Medium bodied, slick, moderate bitterness. Decent APA attempt from a traditional brewery.

Cask at Briar Rose, Birmingham. Mostly clear gold, small white head. There is a floury bread, cereal and stone fruit flavour to this. Ok bitterness. Very unassuming, reasonably sessionable. So boring I wished it to be worse so I could feel aghast and write about it. Then I felt guilty and reminded myself that I'm a consummate amateur oxymoronic beer reviewer and I need to pretend to have standards.

Clear gold with a slight chill haze, a bubbly white head and soft malt and raisins on the nose. Overly fizzy, light bodied with sweet fruit malt, a kick of hop bite, maybe a touch of pine and a dry bittersweet citrus finish

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A pale amber pour with a loose white head; hedgerow bitterness with a sweet malty body and a lingering bitter finish.

Bottle from ASDA, Sheerwater. Aroma is malty, smoky. Some resin. Clear amber. Thin foamy translucent white head primarily sticks to the rim. Light-medium bitter. Resinous. Quinine. Tobacco. Big malts. A hint of underlying citrus. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Unbalanced stuff from a twiggy specialist. Pretty poor.

Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Golden and clear with some filmy white head and generous lacing. Sweet aroma, grapefruit peel and floral hand soap. Bittersweet taste, a bit of astringency, with slightly piney bitter hops on the finish. Oily body. Nice enough use of the Jester hop, a little bit on the bland side, but overall a decent drink.
