On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark, reddish, brown, with a small, bubbly, off-white head. The aroma is leather, lime zest, brown bread, toffee, and cloves. Dry and malty, with a light, funky tartness. Medium body, dusty, and astringent. Pretty nice, if a bit flat.

Taster at the brewery. Pours a clear, red color, with a small, beige head. The aroma is vanilla, cherry wood, caraway, butterscotch, and cloves. Sweet and sugary, with a mellow, strong bitterness. Heavy and syrupy palate. This is an interesting and delicious beer. The ABV and barrel aging make it more of a barley wine than IPA.

Accidentally tried at Beasts & Brews. Pours clear, with a lot of big bubbles. The nose is light mint, raspberry, and white sugar. Sweet and sugary, with no bitter or sour flavors. Light and effervescent. Basically seltzer. Calling this a gruit is deceitful...
