Description
Champion brewing company is Virginia's most progressive brewery, producing a wide variety of ales in two locations: our downtown Charlottesville tap room and our Belmont production facility. Our production brewery known as the 'missile factory' produces our core and seasonal beers on a 30-barrel brewhouse, at a current operating capacity of 15,000 barrels per year. Our original tap room produces constantly changing and innovative seasonals, one-offs, and barrel-aged wild beers.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin head. Good head retention. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, nuts, earthy, faint anise and mild hops. The taste is sweet malts, buts, dried dark fruits and a moderate hop finish. Medium-full bodied. A little mellow for an imperial stout, and quite a nice one.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark orange color with a thin creamy white head. Good head retention. Big hopy aroma with citrus, mango and tropical hops with pale crackery malts. The taste is bitter resin and citrus hops with strong caramel malts. Medium bodied, decent balance, lingering bitterness. Solid beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of wheat and brine. The taste is wheat, caramel, salt and a nutty note. Very dry. Medium bodied.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, brown sugar and an herbal finish. The taste is brown sugar, herbal notes, toasted malts and a spicy finish. Medium bodied, slightly over-spiced.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy yellow color with a medium sized creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of wheat, oats and a tart finish. The taste is toasted wheat, mild nutty notes, bright citrus and a lactic tartness. Medium bodied, refreshing, well balanced.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toasted malts, herbal hops and fruity notes. The taste is herbal and minty hops, toasted malts, mild spice and mild fruitiness. Medium bodied, quite drinkable. Nice beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear apple color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of citrus, herbal, earthy hops, pale malts. The taste is pithy lime and grapefruit, other citrus and some resin notes. Medium bodied with a lingering bitterness. Definite West-coast style IPA. Solid beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a large dark brown head. Good head retention and nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and peppery hops. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied, well balanced and chewy. Very nice porter. I liked this one a lot.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy straw-lemon color with a medium sized head. Decent head retention. Aroma of dry wheat, dry citrus and a sweet finish. The taste is wheat, big citrus notes mild spice and mild herbal hops. Medium bodied.
