About
Grimm Artisanal Ales is a Brooklyn-based brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of tinkering with fermentation. Grimm specializes in concise, elegant ales epitomizing the creative, experimental spirit of the American artisanal beer revolution. With each limited edition release, we seek to push the boundaries of style and flavor in order to create beers with the utmost depth and complexity. For five years, Grimm operated as a nomadic brewery. Joe and Lauren would develop each recipe in the kitchen of their Gowanus apartment and travel to existing breweries near and far to craft their commercial beers.

Can @ Vinyl Beer, Manhattan NYC. Pours extremely hazy dark yellow like orange juice, small foamy off-white head, faint mango aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter mango-citrus peel taste with strong alcohol undertones, thin body, long finish with alcohol aftertaste. Very smooth and tasty but the alcohol escapes.

Deep brown with next to no head. Big aroma that immediately fills the room. Molasses, sweet malts, rich brown sugar, brandy, some delicate rum notes, background oak. Finish is long with sweet notes of brandy. A powerhouse and a delicious one.

Tough Phightens game this afternoon. Real hot down at the ballpark as well. Has turned into a nice evening sitting outback.

Currently negotiating The Ghost being an occupant for another week. Please voice your thoughts on Mr Ghost staying an extra week with me in the comment section, and it will be provided as evidence to Grey Beard staying longer.

Two of these after a couple hours of yard work really hit the spot. Grapefruit jawn with a lemonade twist. Happy anny, Grimm! Can’t believe I haven’t been there since pre pandemic.

Really fantastic on a nice day with a break from the ungodly humidity. Light, but lot of citra/hoppy flavor.

From Good Times Oakland, canned May 13th 2025.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a big head of foam, excellent retention and lacing.

Smell is cloves, banana, coriander, some bubblegum, yeast.

The taste is wheat, cloves, banana, little bubblegum, some sweet notes. Rather tasty and "Hefe" like

Light bodied, I'd drink this again, occasionally.

Definitely the best of the NYC breweries I visited. This hits all the notes, perfectly balanced.
