Note: Tap list says James’ Insane 14 Year Lambic - Pours orange with a small smooth head. Tastes more like a gueuze than a fruit lambic. Aroma has hints of sourness, berries and yeast. Taste is very sour with notes of cherry and berries. Smooth finish, which balances out the sourness quite nicely. Not as dry as the Belgian gueuzes. Great take on a classic style.

Tap list says Storm Insane 12 Year Black Currant Lambic - Pours orange with a small head. Aroma has hints of sour fruits and maple. Taste is quite sour and a bit sweet with notes of fruits. Sticky, sour finish. Surprisingly good, actually tastes somewhat like a real lambic, although a bit sweeter.

On tap at The Alibi Room's 200th beer menu event, split with manuchampions, pours a murky reddish brown. Nose is a mix of sweet and sour fruits, wood and bourbon. Flavour is more dynamic and unusual than the aroma suggests - wood, oak, slight bourbon, sweet fruits underneath and of course a sharp tartness (though no where near the tartness of the 12-year aged lambic by Storm). Glad I only had half a glass of this due to its sourness. Very interesting concoction.
Earlier Rating: 6/24/2010 Total Score: 3.8
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours reddish brown. Overwhelming sour fruit aroma. Flavour is intense! -sourness to the max, cherries, sharp tartness with a long lingering sour finish. A unique one for sure.

On tap at Churchills. I am sure this needs to be merged with the Cassis Lambic (Cassis=Black Currant, and from reading the other ratings, this sounds like the same beer). Oh, and it is Black Currant, not "Current". Pours with a hazy amber-bronze with an off-white head. Aroma is strongly acetic, vanilla, woody, woodsie, musty, mead, currant, and very complex. Taste is HUGELY ACETIC, sour, aggressive, throat rape, vinegar, berries, acid burn. This is probably the most acidic beer that I have ever had! Dry, burn, light bubbles. Intense!

Draught at Vij’s
Cloudy blond color. Fruity Lager, with strong bitterness, a bit yeasty and sour.
It’s probably the first poured glass of the day, and either the beer is off or Storm has to tell Vij’s how to clean the lines.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, as Storm James’ Insane 12 Year Old Lambic
Dark amber color, almost hazy; creamy head. Sour aroma, some acetone, glue, malt, earthy, aggressive. But nothing compared to the aggressiveness of the flavor, sharply acidic, full of acetone, too chemical. Sharp but short final, a bit astringent. Nice try, not bad, but excessive to me.

Draught at Falconetti on Commercial Dr., Vancouver
Cloudy blond color, very much British Golden Ale like. The hop aroma is lightly fruity, and very lightly earthy. Quite good, lean, malt and toffee flavor; reasonably good hopping, quite aromatic; bold bitterness; clean finish.
Well drinkable, but after all the poor beers I had in Vancouver, even this one becomes interesting...

Draught at WaaZuBee Café, Vancouver (nitro)
Hazy golden color, with the obvious creamy head. The aroma is quite creamy and buttery, light cookies. The low carbonation allows for a smooth mouthfeel; nevertheless the flavor doesn’t go much beyond some light toffee; bland hopping. Uninteresting.

On tap many times, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate and oatmeal - some sweetness. Flavour of light licorice, roasted malt, chocolate, and a perfect touch of sweetness. Full-bodied and well-rounded. This is one of best local beers for sure.
