Description
Founded in 2011, Finback Brewery is born from a passion for brewing and experimentation. After a long search combing through back streets, along canals, under bridges and industrial no-mans lands, braving collapsing roofs and cardboard box jungles the brewery found a space in Queens in 2013. Armed with a 20 barrel brewhouse, Finback released its first beers brewed in Queens in January 2014. The brewery is proud to call Queens home and become a part of the diverse and rich culture of the borough. We’re excited to be one of NYC’s newest breweries and to make NYC culture even better.

Our aim is to make great beer following our passion for flavor and complexity from quality ingredients and small batch artisanal brewing. We brew fun, unique beers made for enjoyment. We like it hoppy and complex, roasty and smoky, strong and sippable to sessionable and gulpable. Most importantly it’s something to drink with friends, in the backyard, at the beach and at the bar. We make beer because we like to drink it delicious and fresh and because we like to smile.

Draught. Clear golden yellow with large whitish head, faint citrus peel aroma, low carbonation, weak watery body, lightly bitter citrus taste, abrupt finish. Not well hopped, for sure.

Pine Box Tock Shop, Brooklyn tap: pours hazy orange with almost no head. Aroma is berries, sourness (the smell) and some sugary malt. Taste is lightly sour. Fruity berries. More tart then sour. Not bad.

Can from Andrew. Thanks mydude. It pours a pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is sadly buttery with hints of citrus. The flavor is creamy with some citrus and passionfruit. low bitterness. The buttery aroma kinda ruined it for me.

Draught at Row 34, 8/15/16.
Gently hazy, pale-golden-straw body is topped by a medium-sized, white head that steadily recedes to cover.
Not much kiwi in the nose, but rather honey-like malt notes, some cream-of-wheat-like character and a light, but fragrant acidity from the lactic acid. Doesn’t seem too sweet, which was my problem with most Finback beers, thus far and there’s some definite fruitiness that brightens things, with no alcohol or flaw.
Light kiwi is noticeable, adding a bit of juiciness in concert with the tart lactic character. Low carbonation could use a bit of a boost and tightening, but otherwise, this is well-attenuated and the fruit isn’t overdone/syrupy. Light grains, wheat, acid lingers...

Poured from can bought at Redstone Andover the hazy orange with a nice white head. Aromas of tropical fruit orange grapefruit peel and some piney hops. Taste is sweet coconut tropical marzipan citrus and some hops in the finish. Very interesting combo. More of a mixed drink thing than a beer.

At the source: pours clear gold with a small head. Aroma is fruity and full of acidic stuff. Taste is like a mix of a ginger ale with a berliner weiss. In a good way. Probably less sour than your average berliner. Pretty good.
