Bottled. A standard commercial bock: not incredible, but a good buy for the money. Pours a nice caramel color ’neath a parfait-like head. Taste is the right kind of caramel maltiness, an inauspicious hop nose, but just a touch of phenol. Still; drinks well, no really off flavors; I’d easily drink another.

Brown, large head that leaves a lace. Malt aroma, and the standard Schell flavor that reminds of their bock beers. Not great, but no flaws.

Aromas of malt and carmel. Dark copper color, small and short lived head. Flavor of carmel, malt, and sugar. Medium body. Not as sweet as many bocks. Good.

Tried this on tap at the Bock Beer Festival at the brewery. The festival was outside, so the beer was colder than it should be, until a metal rod is pulled from the bonfire and put into the beer, warming it and bringing out the flavor. The beer is nothing special I'm afraid, thin with a standard bock flavor. Some carmel.

Light red, small head. One dimensional flavor of somewhat sweet malt. Better than many other Vienna’s I have had.

Bottled. Nice example of the style. Big malty smell when opened and poured. Delicious looking amber color, clingy head. Caramel malts, a bit bit darker than usual for the style, and quiet hop matchup go down nice and smooth. A nice beer for the occasion.

Bottled. Opens with a malty, earth smell. Pours a nice amber with a fluffy. Taste has a malty richness and is nice and bubbly, but there were some distracting off-flavors. A bit of oxidation and a medicinal phenol character overwhelms the light hop profile. I think if I had another sample, it should turn out pretty good.

Considering the source this was a pretty decent brew. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty. The flavor was sweet, malty and nutty. There was a hint of spice and caramel on the finish. Really a rather nice Octoberfest. Very drinkable.

Bottled. When I toured the brewery a few years ago, the director told us they wanted to call it "German Pale Ale," but the BATF wouldn’t let them put a non-existent style on the label. So the label has "Garman Style" Pale Ale. And what does Schell make that isn’t German style? Pours a lighter coppery brown, thin head. Smell is indeed a bit more English than German. Interesting blend of English and German tatstes, as promised. Lighter in hop load than a "normal" APA would be, but a well-executed hybrid style.

Pours a dark muddy color. Nice tan head. Aroma is is chocolaty. Flavor is a nice mix between carmel, chocolate and some hoppy citrus. Nice!

I wanted to like this but I was let down. It looks nice, orange with a large white head. Flavors of corn and chemicals. Schell makes some good stuff, but stay away from this one.
