Bottle @ GBBF 2006. Clear amber colour with a small off-white head. Malty fruity aroma with some yeasty hints. Sweet malty and slightly yeasty flavor. Long bitter aftertaste.

Cask @ GBBF 2006. Pours a hazy amber colour with an off-white head. Malty fruity aroma. Malty fruity flavor with some hints of dark fruits. Long malty and fruity aftertaste.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Black colour, very thin head. Good porter, lots of dark roast malts. This I like. Juicy, sour, but crisp and agile too.

Cask at Merton Winter Beer Festival 2005 (retrospectively added from diary notes) Not really what I would call a typical winter beer as strength lacking a bit, amber coloured, small white head nice bitterness nothing special.

Islip Village Hall Sat 25th Feb. Copper coloured ale, this had a little bit more body and flavour than the Edgars and Wychert which I also had this evening, but still doesn’t really grab you by the scruff of the neck and attack your senses. I like Vale and think there beers are always usually very good but I have yet to get excited about any of them. Quite malty reasonably tasty, decent enough pint. Had this again BCA In a field at Towersey Festival, Oxon, w/e 20th-25th August 08 and I can’t really add much to my previous comment, other than to say its a reasonably decent mid amber bitter, quite malty but tasty and my rating has now gone up from 3.1 to 3.2.

Islip Village Hall Sat 25th Feb. wonderfully clear golden coloured ale. Doesn’t seem 4.3% as drinks a lot easier than that percentage nice citrusy hoppy bite to it, pretty good.

Handpull cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Hazy copper colour with thin white head. Maybe not cleared yet. Muddled flavours, nice hop, some strawberry grapefruit. Earthy/muddy but good fruit. Quite a nice session beer, certainly plenty of flavour. Drying hop finish. Some yeast on nose

Cask at GBBF 2005 Dark mild, good malts with caramel and toffee notes. This was one of the best milds of the festival along with the Rutland Panther.

[At GBBF 2004] A clear amber beer with a small beige head. Both the aroma and the flavor are sweet with caramel being most dominant, but also some fruity notes are there.
