Description
Established in 2014, owner Seamus McMahon has set up a lovely brewery in one of the old sheds, located behind the milking parlour. This brewery is set up on a working Dairy Farm. The team have renovated the shed to exacting specifications. The brewery is set amongst the rolling drumlins of County Monaghan. Our aim is to create distinct beers that are brewed with care and affection. We have created a range of well balanced and flavoursome ales that reflect the changing face of the beer market in Ireland.

Bottle at home, picked up from a bottle shop in Newry, 18/06/23. Deep mahogany brown with a good sized lasting khaki head. Nose is fruit cake mix, caramel, dates, raisins, prunes, dark malts, modest bourbon oak. Taste comprises fruit cake, toffee, brown sugar dusting, dates, figs, mellow bourbon kiss. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with mellow bourbon and a balanced rising boost. Solid old skool leaning BW with just a subtle note of barrel.

On tap at Station 1280, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of whiskey barrels, oak chops, and medium roast. Flavour is like a strong dry stout, with additional sugar and whiskey. Medium roast, sugary, whiskey-ish finish.

On tap at Mikkeller at Morebeer, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out plenty of roasted barley, fairly subdued whiskey barrels, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour sort of reminds me of a mega-amped up imperial dry stout, with tons of whiskey and roasted malt. Boozy, whiskey-dominated and roasty, with a long dry finish. Dry, like an Irish dry stout on steroids, with plenty of barrel. Excellent.

Black with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a sweet malt base and sweet whiskey too. Light roasted bitterness but not especially bitter in general.

Pours black, scent is roasty, soy, hidden BBA. Taste is light, bit roasty, rather than the bittersweet side. Coffee. Barrel is very lost. Meh.

Very dark brown with lasting head. Aroma of malts and dried fruits. Surprisingly bitter, quite roasted. Bourbon is there but fairly subtle.
