Description
The Schlossbrauerei Ellingen with its fine beer specialties has been around since 1690. Experience a piece of our long-standing brewing history with every sip. What makes our beers so unique? FÜRST CARL beers are still brewed by hand in the traditional way in the copper brewhouse of the historic brewery. Our raw materials are natural and come from Ellingen and the region: water from our own well, hops and malt from Ellingen and Franconia. We only brew what we are good at: Franconian beer specialties!

Our family, the princes of Wrede and the team of FÜRST CARL stand behind what we do: first-class beers.

Very crisp and almost perfectly clear golden coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying pure white head that leaves a small layer after a few seconds. Aroma of crisp grain, some subdued lemons and citrus elements with a dash of yeast, bread and also a noticeable bit of earthy and rustic elements, but still relatively mild for the style. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong crisp, dry and very grainy notes with a lot of malt, some very subdued but noticeable citrusey flavours with a dash of earthiness that leaves a slightly nutty and floral finish, without much sweetness or complexity and no hops. Aftertaste shows some additional grainy notes with a softer profile and light sweetness, with no hops in the nose or actual flavours, but only some rustic earthiness and nutty flavours that bring anything different than the malts. Overall, a decent enough keller with some light floral and rustic notes, but pretty much on 'schedule' with the grainy bite and pure malt profile the strongest throughout. I sampled this 50 cL can, from Day #2 of the Costco 2020 Advent Calendar, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia sampled at my house here in Washington on 02-December-2020.

Seriously a solid kellerbier. Touch of lemon, and awesome raw barley profile. Crispier than burnt bacon. Golden pour with initial fluffy white foam head that doesn't stick around long. Very clean, dry bitter finish. I'd drink jugs and jugs of this one. Can Zwei from der Kalendar.

Half liter can, #2 from the 2020 Costco advent calender, 12/2/20. Hazy yellow, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of herbal, lemony hops, pale bready malt. Taste is white bread, dough, lemon, a bit of other citrus notes. Medium bodied, fairly crisp. Pretty nice.

500 ml can purchased as part of the 2020 Costco Advent Calendar at the Costco in Overland Park, Kansas. Exp 2022/05 printed on the bottom of the can. The pour is slightly hazed yellow golden with a well formed one inch pure white head, that falls noisily with nice lace. The aroma is straw, herbal, cracker malt and a bit of dry floral. The taste is quite herbal, the straw, grass and finishing with cracker malt that has a muted sweetness. Herbal drifts towards medicinal as the beer warms. The palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation, unfiltered mouth feel and the herbal finish. Nice.

0,33 l bottle from Erzengel. Thanks a lot mate! Cloudy pale copper in the glass with a more than one finger foamy head. Smells perfumed malty. Taste starts also malty, some darker grain in the background. Fruity alcoholic in the second row. Sweet caramel, grainy, pleasant alcoholic. Not bad.
