Description
The Schlossbrauerei Ellingen with its fine beer specialties has been around since 1690. Experience a piece of our long-standing brewing history with every sip. What makes our beers so unique? FÜRST CARL beers are still brewed by hand in the traditional way in the copper brewhouse of the historic brewery. Our raw materials are natural and come from Ellingen and the region: water from our own well, hops and malt from Ellingen and Franconia. We only brew what we are good at: Franconian beer specialties!
Our family, the princes of Wrede and the team of FÜRST CARL stand behind what we do: first-class beers.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, deep golden colour with a short and slightly off-white foamy head. Mildly herbal and slightly floral hoppy aroma with subtle fruity accents. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a rather calm carbonation. Slightly bready malty base with hints of cereals, backed by slightly herbal-spicy and subtle fruity hops, getting delicately grassy towards the mildly bitter finish with a slightly grainy aftertaste. Drinkable, not a must. 10.I.18

Bottled on November 13, 2017. As a blind tasting. I think it was purchased at Landbierparadies, online shop.Clear dark red to brown color, tan head. Wort like, spicy, herbal hoppy scent, lacks some malt depth, feels a tad oxidized. Dark bread, hoppy herbal, feeling oxidized taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.4/4/4/3/9=2.4

Dark red brown (very dark) with little coarse light brown head. Aroma is walnuts licorice, caramel, toffee. Not very much aroma. Taste is well rounded with sweetness of dark fruits together with a little roasty bitterness. Mouthfeel is actually quite thin. Much carbonation with watery body. However medium long finish with more licorice and sweetness. Overall OK.
