Description
Bullfrog Brewery is a proudly independent and multiple award-winning craft microbrewery, brewpub, and eatery nestled comfortably in the vibrant heart of downtown Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Born of fortuitous circumstance and ambitious aspiration, we opened in August of 1996 with a committed 'focal on local' philosophy and a simple yet lofty goal ... to be the place that people need to spend time, to brew beers that people need to have in their life, to offer food that people need to eat, to offer live music that people need to hear, and to be the place that our beloved staff need to work. Bullfrog beers are renowned far and wide, especially our artfully-crafted, barrel-aged wild ales such as Le Roar Grrrz and Rood Bruin. Here at "The Frog," we celebrate life by creating outstanding and memorable beers, food, friendships, and moments.

750mL bottle, sent from Beerman6686, pours a cloudy opaque dark amber orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of purple grape skins, barnyard funk, and light acidity. Flavour is intensely complex, with lots of purple grape skins, leather, and barnyard funk. Acidity is light, tartness is also rather light. Phenomenal complexity. Fantastic stuff.

750mL bottle, sent from Beerman6686, pours a cloudy opaque dark orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of blackberry skins, a little blueberry and light funk. Flavour is very complex, with a great blend of blackberry and blueberries, lots of the skins, a little pith, and light funk. A bit of a lactic, yogurty quality to it as well. Complex and wonderfully balanced. Excellent.

750mL bottle, sent from Beerman6686, pours a reddish purple with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of blueberry and purple grape skins, along with cherries, medium funk and a touch of acidity. Flavour is intense, with loads of blueberry and cherry skins, with medium acetic notes and light-to-moderate funk. The fruit skins sure impart a unique quality to this. Intense blueberries on the finish. Phenomenal.

750mL bottle, sent from Beerman6686, pours a cloudy dark reddish purple with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out fresh tart blueberries upfront, perfumey and floral notes, and light funk. Flavour is complex, with tart fresh blueberries, moderate tartness, and low acidity. The blueberries are so jammy, pithy and almost lactic. Not exactly authentic, but it's fantastic for what it is.

Growler from Bullfrog. Hazy yellow pour with a thin head and aromas of lemons and oranges. Kind of a bitter orange presence.. almost like it isn’t quite ripe yet. It’s lovely. Flavor is clean and finishes with oranges and grapefruit. Very, very nice.

Sample at Bullfrog. So I sampled both this and the regular and went home with a growler of the regular... Full disclosure... Pours a light yellow/gold with a thin head. It’s a bit hazy but nothing too bad. Aromas are spiky grapefruit and flavor is more of the same. It’s very good stuff and if I hadn’t had the orange variety this would have more than done the trick. That said, it is a bit brusk and uncouth... Normally I like that, however.

On tap at Bullfrog. Pours a murky light brown with a slight head and aromas that are completely boring. Maybe the first sniff had a bit of funk, but after first sip, it isn’t even worth trying to get a feel for the nose anymore. It all comes off as grainy dust. Flavor is another matter. It is a punchy brett beer with that grapefruit rind spunk and a bit of a muted berry presence in the background. It’s lovely...
