Amber colour. The aroma is hoppy with hints of breadcrust and caramel. Firm malty character leans towards caramel and metals with a healthy dose of hop dryness in the finish.

Swing top bottle. Brown color. Soft smoked cheese aroma. Malty flavor with some beechwood and smoked cheese notes. In the background, but nevertheless hard to ignore. Medium bodied. Pleasant brew.

Bottle, bought in Hirschaid. Blonde, no head. Flowery hops and a hint of cardboard in the aroma. Malty flavor with apple, cardboard and a hint of old hops. Past its peak, though the best before date wasn’t reached yet. Re-rate: bottle, bought at the source. Pale vblonde. Grassy, stony aroma. Malt, soft grassy hopbitter flavor. Hint of soap in the aftertaste. Above rating is for the re-rate

Bottled (BB 08/2009). Yellow color, mostly vanishing white head. Unclean diacetyl-like sweetish, honeyish plus cardboardish aroma. A bit watery palate. Sweet malty, slightly diacetylic. Aftertaste has some grassy bitterness, but otherwise boring.

Bottled. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white head, leaves some lace. Aroma is mildly skunky, grassy, some saltwateryness, malts and a bit herbal as well. Flavour is malts, quite wooden, saltwatery and grassy. Also some interesting sweetness as well as mild earthyness. A rather refreshing brew. Crisp carbonation.

Bottled (Citymarket Sello, BB 08/2009). Golden color, good white head. Skunky, grassy and metallic nose. Decent malty body. Flavor has nice bitterness, but also some metallic and buttery notes. Long sweet malty and bitter aftertaste. Reasonably robust lager (4.7%) to buy from Finnish Supermarket, but has also some odd metallic flavors and odours. I am not sure if this is really Helles, tastes more like a pils.
