Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed Saturday 22.10.11 I picked this up in the Basque region, Northern Spain, July 2011 Pours hazy yellow. There is a slight concerning move towards the bar of soap flavours that I’ve encountered with a few of these Basque ciders starting to happen in the mouth, thankfully it doesn’t totally materialise. Lemony, clear in glass its ok. A5 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

Apple and pear nose, fresh and clean, with a kiss of lime. Clear yellow with a very slight greenish hue. Soft on the palate. Flavor is very distinctly lime, but just shy of being as tart as the unsweetened real thing. Still very tart though. Pear notes are in the background. Medicinal antiseptic overtones. I often find this in the so-called higher quality ciders, but to me it tastes like an infection. Certainly very unique, somewhat enjoyable if you are acclimated to sour ales and ciders. Without the bandaid quality, I could probably get into it.

Bottle 37,5. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy pale yellow. Tart, barnyardish apple aroma. Light body, low carbonation, dry and sulphurous apple notes, very astringent. Lots of tannins in the finish. A serious Cider indeed. 030511

(Notes)Yard’s sampling mug. I think we decanted this as best we could by following the picture on the bottle. Cloudy gelatin, pissy color. Smell is pungent with browned, overripe fruit. Lemon, white wine, apricots, a wet, macerating pile of hay minus the barnyard animals. Juicy. Feel is watery with the weak carbonation & wild stuff eating everything, but manages to deliver a half sour apricot/apple blend. Dry & yeasty. Near rancid(but not quite) fruit sweetness. Lemony finish.

Bottle. Hazy gold pour with light carbonation. Champagney and apple aroma. Medium bodied, apple and honey with a tiny unpleasant buttery note. Dry finish.
