Bottle from Corti Brothers in Sacramento, CA. Marked 2008. Pours Hazy gold with a few temporary bubbles. Nice slightly sour apple aroma. Near medium body. It is mildly sour and somewhat oaky and astringent. I could believe it spent some time in wood. Quite tasty. Reminds of Flemish sour ales. Sort of. Maybe of RR stuff. Sort of.

This is solid. Bright green bottle, but the cider is cloudy gold in appearance. Lots of yeast in the aroma with apple. Flavor has hard cheese, like parmesan or manchego, as well as some oregano. A little barnyard character. Light apple, and low carbonation. Unusual.

Not sure how they did this, either pasteurized it or fermented the crap out of and then watered it down. I feel a lot of the flavor has actually been lost here, its still definitely cider and green apple sweet, I mean that will never get lost but its pretty dried out. This reminds me of hen I used a Trappist yeast on a cider, its cider but the yeast ate too much away. Its not funky, there is a bit of acidity to it but not in the funked up way. There is no carbonation as far as appearance but its still magically sparkling on the cheeks, yet its not from the carbonation. Just a tingly and acidic feel to it. Its not that good, I could drink it, it feels good, but I wont return.
750mL green bottle, corked, Isastegi traditional cider glass (thanks Ty).

2008 Bottle ($11.99). Sent in a picture. Not entirely sure that this is any different than the other version, but I will put my rating under this one. Even pouring this cider in the way traditional for Basque ciders (at 3 feet) produces very little and shortly lived froth. The color is a slightly hazed golden hue. Slightly deep and stronger than a well oaked California Chardonnay. Bottle conditioned, with yeast wandering around the bottom of the bottle if even slightly disturbed. Aroma of cork, slightly spicy and manure like with saw dust and a bit of bitter apple with a touch of citrus zest. Apple skins and nice florals. Smells like you are in an orchard. Taste is a Spanish cider alright. Extremely dry with vinegar, tartness, some apple notes, citrus, and wood. Bit of leather or horse hide in the aftertaste. Not as complex or as pleasant as Sarasola, but still nice if you are in the mood for a parched mouth. Extremely dry; this stuff will remove any saliva from your mouth. Just a hint of effervescence on the back end.

Corked Bottle
Unfiltered. Hazy blond color. Delicate, flowery apples aroma. No carbonation. Quite dry and sour. A bit astringent at the end. Very close to a real sidra asturiana, but quite simple.
