Cask (gravity pour) at Standing Order, Derby. Pours mahogany with minimal off-white head. There’s spices and roast malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and somewhat watery. Flavour has floral hops, spices and chocolate with hints of coffee grounds and nuts. Finish is quite spicy. This is a decent strong ale.

Bottled. Golden colour, smal white head. Aroma is floral, grassy, herbal and mild earthy notes. Flavour is floral, grassy and some herbal notes. Quite standard Shepherd Neame, but I still like it.

0.5 l bottle from 'Trinkgut Knödgen', best before February 2024. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted hazelnut, some oats and a touch of raisins. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty, a little fruity taste of dark chocolate, lots of coffee, roasted hazelnut, some licorice and a touch of raisins, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good Stout, hard to believe it's only got 5.2% abv. Benchmark stuff.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 13th October 2023. Looked fine, deep chestnut/mahogany body, off white crown. Sadly it tasted a little too earthy and spicy for my palate, all a bit 'green', it needed another month in the barrel to sort it's self out.

Huge thanks to quack-duck for that one! Can looks simple but good. Beer in the glass with a nice head. Starts mild, malty, a bit washy. Sweetish fruity background. Some hints of apricot, some peaches. Finish well balanced. Not bad!
