Cask (King’s Arms, Sunderland) - Copper in colour. Earthy hops and dried fruit in the aroma. Fruity taste with raisins, earthy hops and a hint of caramel.

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 17th Feb 2014. Pours a golden colour with a white head. Light floral to fruity nose with a more malty feel to the taste. It’s pretty boring to be honest, just a regular mid-strength UK Bitter with no outstanding features in either direction. Nothing bad, but nothing interesting or different to get excited about.

Cask at the Buckleberry Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear dark golden colour with a loose thin white head. Aroma of floral hop, tropical fruit and strong malts. Apricot fruity flavour with straw and some boiled sweets. Ends with dry cereals, citrus and some caramel.

Hand-pulled half pint on 3 Oct 2013 at the Crown Inn, Oakengates (one of 34 different cask offerings during a beer festival). Pours a light amber colour with a white head. Floral hops rule this little brew: weak, subtle and disappointing. Rudgate/Marston Moor seem to be producing a lot of ’samey’ beers in the popular golden tasteless style currently: please stop it!

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 1 Aug 2013. Golden, to light amber in colour, on top a white covering. Floral hop nose and flavour with a bitter finish. Inoffensive and a little bland: just another tweaked brew from Rudgate’s standard wort mix.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise - Euston, London. Pours clear, copper-ruby with a light, white head. Faint dried fruit aroma, some dirt. Light sweet flavor, mildly earthy with mellow cocoa and leathery fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish with toasty bread, light leaves and earth, mellow dried fruits. Very basic.
