Description
Great Beer Above All Else

Surly: The frustration we felt when we couldn't find a good beer, much less a great one, in Minnesota. So we made some.

Great beer is all that really matters. Well, that and pushing your limits a bit, looking out for your people, taking pride in where you’re from, and having as much damn fun as you can while doing it.

0.75l bottle @ RBNAG11 bought at Cracked Kettle webshop. Pours a deep deep brown body with a nice sidesticking lightly tanned head. Aroma is light smoky and kinda beefy with tones of salty beef and smoked malts. Average carbonation with a light oily to sticky mouthfeel. Flavors are even more smoky with salty and ashy tones of dried beef. Light sweet as well. Alcohol completely hidden. A really good smoked!

Very good, very fresh beer. Tastes like tap beer from a can. Pours a nice, clear copper color with a mid-sized, creamy foam head. Aroma and flavor dominated by fresh hops--piney, citrusy goodness. Nice bitter finish to the beer, which is otherwise very smooth-drinking.

Shared bottle, RBNAG 2011. Dark brown colour. Sourish aroma and flavour, farmhouse notes, lemony and gueuze-like despite the darker colour.

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 22.10.11 Jan brought this along, cheers Jan. Pours black with no head to speak of. This is smokey, really smokey in the mouth, you imagine fumes coming out of your ears and nostrils. Some smoked fish, wood smoke, really lovely. A8 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

16 oz pint can courtesy of tytoanderso. According to Ty, this was canned Monday! Pour is mostly clear golden with a nicely formed off white head that falls with heavy lacing. Tiny carbonation bubbles streaking to the surface. Aroma is floral grass, light lemon citrus, leafy resin. Some grapefruit in here as well. Taste is fresh resin hop, along with bright clear lemon citrus and finishing with the grassiness of the nose. There is also a pleasant sweetness to the lemon, giving it an almost pineapple taste. Additionally, lighter sweet cracker malt is present, also fresh and clean. This is really vibrant, hop freshness just pops. Palate is medium to light bodied, soft natural carbonation, with the dry resin finish. Really nice, thanks for getting this to me so quick Tyler.

Tangy, moderately sour, tart cherry-berry, moderately funky, red wine, almost juice-like, tasty flavor. Somewhat sour, berry, tangy, dry, mild vinous finish. Nice, easy drinking sour.
