Can from Appalachian Vinter. Pint glass @home. Chill hazed, dirty iced tea, light russet brown ale. Sharp cherry over some weak acidic coffee, lemon & oats. Taste is tart cherry juice, lime, slice of toast, very weak but fruit forward coffee that lingers. Really acidic, light vinegar, moderate carb, noticeable at just 3%. Nothing complex or wanting, but I could mistake this for a sharp brune. More of a solid sour fruit beer than okay kvass. Still counts?

12oz can, courtesy of MicroGrog, pours with a clear enough deep gold colored body that supports a tiny white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up malts, a spicy hoppiness and then faint sweet biscuit sensation. The taste delivers sweet malts leading toward a modest degree of bitter spicy hops. To midway the lager yeasty esters are just noticeable above the maltiness. If I didn't read the beer description I wouldn't have picked up on the faint smokiness. This could use a little more forward smokiness to round out the experience. Nice beer.

On tap at the Whale Outpost, Asheville. Clear golden with medium white head. Malty and grainy. Very light pilsner with touch of bitterness. Easy going.

12oz can, courtesy of MicroGrog, pours with a somewhat murky mahogany colored body that supports no head at all. The aroma comes across sort of vinegar and red wine that heads into a bit of soured fruit and a sense of winter spices. The taste begins kind of bracing with tannins and tartness flowing into a sort of citrus like sourness. Just like the nose there's thin murmurs of winter holiday spiciness. Kind of fun.
