Description
Our team live and breathe Melbourne so it only makes sense that our beers are made here. Our beers are also brewed in batches so that the beer is fresher and that hard earned thirst is quenched.

Hawthorn Brewing Co. beers are brewed using as many local ingredients as possible. Yes, sometimes we do have to source from interstate (our southern cousins do have some pretty fine hops), but the quality is always there.

Like beer, we love and accept everyone. Beer does not care about your religion, race, gender or sexual orientation. Everyone (of legal drinking age) can enjoy our beer if they want and we hope that they do.

Beers are brewed at Tribe.

Bottle. Pretty much black with a tan head that fades to a coat. Aroma of roast, sticky licorice, coffee, brioche, grass. Medium bodied. Much less sweet than suggested by the aroma with hints of richness pushed back by fairly firm roast and coffee. Quite a bitter finish with an unusual earthy note. No obvious raisins (not a criticism). I'd like to see a version of this around 8%, but this is pretty good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brewing Raisin Shine Stout on 04 May 2018 at 13:49 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Not bad. Bit sweet, already aging but still some hoppyness. Dried fruit, some bitter, crisp mouthfeel.

The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light watery dry malt, woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

330ml bottle sampled during Aussie trip 2017-18. Pours lightly hazed pale golden amber with a white head. Aromas of pale malts, light citrus, grassy hops. Taste is similar, quite crisp, hints of orange marmalade, moderate bitterness. Light to medium body with average carb. Dry-ish, light bitter finish. Sessionable but not much to it really

Schooner on tap at Beer Deluxe, Sydney. Peach coloured with a thin white head. Smells of funky yeast and spice. Good lacing. Tastes initially of aniseed. Later there are some dry citric yeasty notes. Delicious summer beer, it's like a sherbet liquorice fruit beer!
