Description
First brewed in August 2008. A 5BBL plant was used. The brewery closed in Spring 2023, with the site being sold to the owners of Harwich Town Brewing Company and Witham Brewery who set up Wharf Brewery.

Some Red Fox beers are now made by Wharf. These should be rated under Wharf.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - opaque, mat black. Big foamy beige head. Nose - smoke, wood, farmyard and burnt raisins. Taste - burnt raisin, burnt toast and smoke. Palate - medium bodied, roast and very dry finish. Overall - very dry indeed. Possibly a dry stout in style.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - amber with thin cream lacing. Nose - very faint cherry and mainly malt. Taste - mainly brown bread but also light glace cherry on the finish. Palate - light bodied, dry finish. Overall - ok but where's the cherry.

Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of cherry and sucrose. Taste is more of the same. Sweet finish. Then weirdly dungy.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep brown to black with a generous beige head. Nose - chocolate and malt, kinda Bourbon creams. Taste - creamy chocolate and light roasty malt, very light smoke. Palate - creamy in texture, light to medium bodied. Roasty finish. Overall - quite liked this.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - amber with a proportionate off-white head. Nose - dried orange and grainy. Something lemon zesty too. Taste - cakey/grainy. Dried and fresh citrus peel. Palate - light bodied, a bit sweet in the middle, with a light zesty finish. Overall - ok.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep golden with a fairly substantial fluffy white head. Nose - lemon, bread and grapefruit zest. Taste - lemon or grapefruit barley water.. Palate - light bodied and refreshing. Overall - does what golden ale is supposed to do.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - cloudy amber to orange. Big foamy white head. Nose - orange, caramel, dried fruit and sweet spice. Taste - caramel, orange, sultanas and sweet spice again.. Palate - close to medium bodied. Creamy texture. Light bready dryness on the finish. Overall - enjoyable.
