Malty

On tap into pilsner glass. Appearance is hazy dark yellow, light brown with nice sparkle, finger-width foamy white head with fair leggy lacing. Aroma is mix of tropical fruit, citrus and resiny hops. Taste is much like aroma with fruit and citrus dominating the resin. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a good representative of the West Coast style IPA with a better balance of bitter and sweet than many.

Very hazy amber - brown beer, good cream colour head. Palate is fairly light for the abv. Fine minerally crispness. Airy malts, creamy sweet with a fair bit of toffee - caramel, even a little chocolate. Bitterish hop skunk. Pine. Ripe orange marmalade. Modest red berries and a little cherry. Bitterish salted caramel finish. Full on and unapologetic. Has one foot in DIPA territory and the other in Barleywine. Challenging but ultimately pretty satisfying.

11th May 2016, 22oz bottle shared with my wife while on holiday in California. Poured into Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip glasses. Cloudy body, dirty orange in colour with a full white head. Half Kolsch, half Wheat beer is where my thoughts went as we sniffed and sipped this beer in the warm afternoon sun. Refreshing and different, not sure I could have had the whole 22oz’s though.

Super hazy golden and copper coloured body with a rich, five centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright resinous, piney and tropical fruit hops with a nice malt backbone evident and a good deal of sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive bite from the hops with tropical fruits and some pine the most noticeable along with a good malt backbone and some subdued but tasty citrus elements. Aftertaste shows some herbal flavours, a little grass and a lot of hop bitterness throughout with a good balance of malt as well. Overall, a very nice West Coast IPA with a great hop profile and nice malt backbone - great to sample, and well worth space in a suitcase! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo! in Manhattan Beach, California on 23-February-2016 for US$5,79 sampled at home in Washington on 09-May-2016 on the other end of this fine country.

22oz bomber pours up with a slightly hazy deep gold body that supports a nearly booming light tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up candy like citrus that’s sort of honey like where a faint malted wheat sort of note is off in the background. The taste doesn’t seem to have a bold character standing out above the rest but it plugs along with sugar malts, a fruity esters sort of note and then a boozy kind of honey sensation. This seems a little rough around the edges.

Orange-copper color with small fine white head. Aroma is grapefruit, tangerines, pines. Taste is more grapefruit, orange, tangerines, pine, rather dry (still with body) and refreshing, bitter orange finish. Very soft foamy mouthfeel. A solid refreshing rather dry IPA, but what else is there to expect in California? This is actually one of the not-so-good IPAs I?ve had over here.

22oz bomber pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up some nuttiness, a bit of roasted malts and caramel malts and then a sense of fruity esters. The taste starts with a blend of nuttiness, roasted malts and caramel malts and then rolling into a thin layer of earthy malts laced with faint sweet dark fruity esters. This seems a tad heavy and deep for the style, as far as I could tell, but this is pretty nice.
