Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, coffee, some hops. Flavour is roasty, a bit hoppy, with some sweetness and bitterness in the finish. Definitely leans towards Black as opposed to IPA. Which is not a bad thing for this brew.

Bottiglia.

Aroma of malt, caramel, ripe fruits, strawberry, apricot, grapefruit, orange, pine, floral hops. Flavour is malty, incredibly fruity, moderately sweet, with a bittersweet finish. Very tasty, it;s like drinking a fruit basket.

Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, spicy yeast, ripe fruits, hint of hops. Flavour is medium sweet with a light to moderate bitter finish. I’d have liked to have tasted this fresh two years ago, but aging has turned this almost into a Barley Wine, which is not a bad thing.

Shortlived white head over darker golden beer, finely carbonated. Sweet, Belgian buns, cookies with glazing. Again sweet, with something as pineapple sweets, but artificial-like. Fruity esters. The CO² lends some almost-acidity. Quite slick; fine but present carbonation; maybe medium bodied. Come on, Stefaan, Kristof! The bucket list's last items seriously miss inspiration, and I'm not talking labels. And adding oak chips is not 'oaked' in my book.

From tap at Café Marktzicht, Amersfoort. Aroma is tart fruits, citrus, Brett funk, peach, hint of hops. Flavour is over moderate sour. Medium bodied. A bit unstable, doesn’t completely work, but interesting and fairly enjoyable still. Not the most balanced or refined Magma special edition. Retry from bottle: works a bit better than the version I had from tap. I wonder how this will mature. *** Re-rate of a bottle aged about a year and a half. This is much better, the Bretty funk is even more dominant, sourness has increased and I’d say it’s a lot more balanced. Lovely Wild Ale.
