Bottle at Paters Vaetje, Antwerp. Very dark brown/cloudy with thick beige head. Dry malt aroma with choc and camp coffee. Some raisin. Nice choc and fruit in mouth with grainy dry finish. Bit of vinous in mouth. Really excellent beer, wonderful in mouth, just needs a bit more complexity.

Bottled. Hazy, orange beer with a huge white head. The bottled acted like a volcano when opened. Aroma is fruity, with apples, and hints of yeast and fusel. Fruity flavor with a little yeastiness. Sweet, light bitter finish. Can definately be done better. (060113)

A Belgian style stout - what an interesting concept. Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium in Pittsburgh this beer poured a black color with reddish highlights and a medium sized soapy tan head. The aroma is sweet malts with a nice floral hop element. The flavor is sweet and chocolaty with a nice floral hops presence. The body is silky smooth yet not thick. A rather unusual and very nice beer.

Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a huge foamy dirty brown head with pretty good retention. Aroma of sweet malt with distinctive Belgian yeast note. Some sweet malt with a slightly bitter and coffee finish also dominates taste. More reminiscent of a Belgian dark ale then a stout but interesting nonetheless. Body is above average and alcohol is well hidden.

Tap @ Oud Arsenaal Fruity yeasty aroma, some of that typical belgian peppery note - I really had missed that note and it was the first beer I got after I arrived in Antwerp. Cloudy golden, off-white lacing creamy head. Tropical fruit flavors (pineapple, peach). Quite fresh, allthough it was served slightly too cold for my taste as well. Medium to light body - more refreshing than complex.

Bottled. Dark ruby, rich head. Loads of butterscotch lasting from the nose to the finish, accompanied by lingonberries and soil. Sweet with full to medium body and a cottony/velvetty mouthfeel with lots and lots of caramel. Salty finish.

Hazy yellow color, big white head. Aroma of hop, citrus, grain, spicy and yeasty. Sweet and spicy taste. Full taste. Lingering palate. Very nice beer.[br]6/29/2013: Tap @ Gollem Antwerp. Clear golden color, medium rocky head. Aroma is quite spicy of belgian yeast, bit peppery even. Soft flowery hops. Taste has only some soft sweetness, some bitterness. Pretty dry. Nice and easy drinker, pretty good for a belgian blonde.

Undated bottle, though I know these have been on the shelves since 2004, so I imagine it to be a 2003 or 2004 bottle. Consumed on 6/19/2005. Hazy-copper, rusty-orange with yellowish tints on the edges. Fluffy, thick eggshell colored head is perfectly retained. Great lacing. Bottle conditioned. Smells of rich honey wheat dough. Some white pepper. Flavor is light plants, (not boiled or veggie like), just plant roots and leaves. Quite a bit of honeyish dough. Light hops are slightly metallic and moderately bitter. Some spiciness lingers. A bit of dusty yeast on the end. Not terribly complex, but no flaws that I can find. Light wheat notes give it a bit of a smoothness on the palate. Spicy hops and baked wheat bread retronasal. Almost clove-like. Maybe some herbs (oregano or parsley). Good mouthfeel, yeast dulls it somewhat, making it a bit heavy on the end. Low carbonation, medium body, not thin.
